Stats on number of those with coronavirus who have had one or two vaccinations

I have googled but where do I find stats on this?

OP posts:

I don't know where you would get the stats from , but heard of a few people still getting it after two jabs. They are not in hospital ( thankfully) but it must be recorded somewhere ?

Dementedswan · 11/06/2021 11:11

83 people in hospital with Indian variant were fully vaccinated

More detail from that PHE report here, and some potentially worrying figures around the breakdown of hospital attendances.

Of the 1,234 people who attended A&E in England between February 1 and June 7 and who were confirmed as having the Delta variant, 825 (67%) were unvaccinated, 220 (18%) were more than 21 days after their first dose of vaccine, and 83 (7%) were more than 14 days after their second dose.

And of the 383 cases where attendance at A&E resulted in an overnight admission, 251 (66%) were unvaccinated, 66 (17%) were more than 21 days after their first dose of vaccine and 42 (11%) were more than 14 days after their second.

From sky news.

But the stats don’t mean anything unless we know more about the health of the hospitalised individuals who have had both vaccinations.

We won’t get this data, so the numbers really don’t mean anything.

MrsFrisbyMouse · 11/06/2021 11:31

So that means 3.4% of the total people presenting to a&e needing an overnight stay were double vaccinated. That's really very low and totally consistent with what we know about vaccine effacy.

And what we don't know is what the outcomes for those 3.4% are - but I would hazard a guess at positive.

Also remember they doesn't necessarily meant that 3.4% of people pf vaccinated people will need to be admitted to hospital - because to work that out you would need to be comparing those figures to the number of people who were vaccinated in same time period.

The news outlets use very selective reporting for statistics...

oystercatcher44 · 11/06/2021 11:40

We need to know how ill the vaccinated people were before they were hospitalised. Sadly frail, sick people are hospitalised regularly following common colds etc. The 83 number means nothing in itself.

I would also like to know how many of these people were recent arrivals to UK from areas where the Delta variant is prevalent, and how many were living in households ( ie in close contact over a sustained period of time) with recent arrivals from such areas.

murbblurb · 11/06/2021 11:42

Nobody said the vaccines are perfect , although those blubbering about 'safe' seem to expect that. All a matter of reduced risk. Not helped by our fuckwit arrogant prime minister who let the Indian variant in.

Whatever9999 · 11/06/2021 11:42

What I'd like to know is how many of those attending A&E and admitted presented because of covid rather than the covid only being discovered because they were tested and they actually went there for a totally different reason.
I think that is far more important and relevant as to what protection the vaccines are giving when it comes to severe illness

JulietBravo999 · 11/06/2021 11:48

Just been reading this - seems Pfizer and AZ are just about on equal footing on the efficacy front re Delta variant (per PHE)

Hopefully people will now stop saying AZ is only 60% effective. It was always going to take a bit longer to get comparable data.

Also, it is REALLY important to get the second jab, it greatly improves protection rates. I forgot to include the link, here it is:

That data is in the report, they show total numbers, then numbers excluding those who have the same specimen date and attendance/admission date, as it is assumed those are ones who were picked up by routine testing when attending for something else.
