Restart self isolation?

Missssmamaaa · 10/06/2021 16:53

So I tested positive last Thursday for covid, both kids negative. Partner then tested positive on the Saturday. Track and track told us to all get tested again yesterday and so far have had 1 DS and mine back as positive.

Both DS have no symptoms but me & DP have had symptoms since last week.

Do me & DP have to restart the self isolation? Or is it just DS from positive date?

Thanks

I don’t see why you would have to restart as surely it’s the same infection?!? Can you check with test and trace?

Just DS.

everyone has to do 10 days from testing positive then can come out of isolation. Unless they never test positive in which case they do 10 days from the first person testing positive.

Do not see why you tested again, when you’ve already tested positive. I didn’t think they would let you do that. Isolation for everyone is as stated above by Kimlo.

I just guessed it was incase DS picked it up later as they had tested negative the first time? Confused

I think Mindymomo is wondering why YOU specifically were asked to test again, when you had already tested positive last Thursday.

But as everyone else has said:
you isolate for 10 days from the start of your symptoms
DH isolates for 10 days from the start of his symptoms
DS isolates for 10 days from the date of his positive test (as he is asymptomatic)

Yeah so track and trace phoned me earlier and said we were advised correctly and that yes we should have all tested again. I couldn't really understand it myself tbh.

Is this correct? I'd have thought the person who hadn't tested positive would have to isolate for 10 days from the last person testing positive (as they might not have picked it up from the first person but then pick it up from the second?)

You'd think, wouldn't you. That's correct though - I assume the justification is that if you're going to catch it you'd do so when the first person beings it into the house but I think they just wanted to make it easier for people to follow.

Those who already tested positive should not have tested again for 90 days after the first test as it can pick up fragments of the old infection even when no longer contagious.

Those who test positive can come out of isolation after their 10 days are up. Your other ds can stop isolating after the first 10 days are up unless they get symptoms and then their 10 day isolation starts.
