With this speed of new threats humankind will cease to exist soon

@BIWI

I'll have a pint of what you're having
I wouldn’t, it’s probably cyanide based on the OP’s outlook.
bombis · 10/06/2021 17:39

I am not moving this post anywhere. Coronavirus should be changed to End of the word section.

So it would seem that humans are mortal. What a shocker.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/06/2021 17:42

I am curious as to the scenario though. Who diagnosed it as monkeypox? Was it a poor gp who was really on top of their exotic diseases or was it at the ED? What sort of 'oh shit' conversations happened.

SomeKindOfFloppyWeirdo · 10/06/2021 17:42

The title and first post look like someone made an AI bot read mumsnet for half an hour then got it to write its own post Grin

(Sorry OP!)

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/06/2021 17:43

End of the word?

And the word was... monkeybox!

Life must be very hard for you if you are this pessimistic.
chipshopElvis · 10/06/2021 18:09

Disappointed to find that this is not about a new version of Money Box Live on radio four presented by monkeys.

You need to channel some REM.

I would love that! Shall we start a campaign for our own MN pet bot?
bombis · 10/06/2021 18:28

I try to keep positive attitude towards life but sometimes there is too many viruses and bacteria round.

OP posts:
BIWI · 10/06/2021 18:31

FFS.

We're swilling with bacteria in our own bodies. Do you not know that?!

And viruses have been around since God's dog was a puppy. (Love that phrase).

Charliebradbury · 10/06/2021 18:32

There are always viruses and bacteria around. Your body is full of millions of them.

I would love to see what they came up with if this happened

Cornettoninja · 10/06/2021 18:34

@bombis you need to calm down.

We’ve lived alongside billions of viruses and bacteria for millions of years. Looking at it like that it’s amazing we haven’t been in this situation before really. We’ve lived alongside flesh-eating bacteria barely thinking about it day to day.

This isn’t an extinction event (monkey pox or covid).

Cornettoninja · 10/06/2021 18:35

Looking at it like that it’s amazing we haven’t been in this situation before really

To clarify I mean in our lifetimes.

bombis · 10/06/2021 18:53

We are now as far as delta or maybe even further but there is long way to omega. All sorts of variants can come along.

GoldenOmber · 10/06/2021 18:55

Monkeybox sounds like some kind of incomprehensible social media platform that The Youth use.

“God, Mum, nobody’s on Tiktok now! I put all my rap sonnet mashups on Monkeybox.”

Yes, and we’ll deal with them as they come 🤷‍♀️

Stop borrowing problems from tomorrow as a wise woman once said to me. (It was me. In the mirror. I’m the wise woman. I will not be open to discussion exploring this further.)

Oysterbabe · 10/06/2021 19:07

How fast? Like can I spunk my mortgage payment this month on champagne and caviar?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/06/2021 19:13

Monkeypox is not a serious illness

It will be now the media's got hold of it Grin

herecomesthsun · 10/06/2021 19:46

@PickAChew

Bananas.
If you insist
psychomath · 10/06/2021 20:50

We're about one part in 50 bacteria by mass, so more than a kilogram in most people. Fun fact!
