Is school isolation advice legally binding?

Just thinking about travel insurance. Some will cover you if you are contacted by track and trace or the app and told to isolate.

What about if you are told by school? My understanding was that they don’t inform t&t of contacts of positives and handle it themselves…is that then legally binding (and hence claimable on insurance)?

I believe so. We were told when a bubble burst that school are authorised to act on behalf of test and trace. I didn't look into it much as we would have isolated DC either way but I've no reason to believe it isn't true.

Yes the legislation itself includes "someone employed or engaged by the local Authorities" which would give head teachers authority to issue legally binding self isolation notices

So theoretically is as covered as track and trace! Not that we are traveling (I wish) just thinking what to look for in policies!

Yes. The schools are advised by PHE or local public health I believe and it’s as legally binding and being told by T&T.

The government made the schools do the job of contact tracing.
