I am having to self isolate for 10 days due to being in contact with someone who has tested positive. No symptoms , tested negative.
Looking online into whether I can walk my dog and results are conflicting.
Dogs trust say you can walk the dog if isolating but showing no symptoms but others say no.
Gov website doesn't seem to have any new information regarding this. Anyone help?

Just walk your dog, dogs need exercise.

Walk the dog.

Walk the dog early or late is best option.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 09/06/2021 18:58

Walk the dog. It’s at no risk to anybody.

Thanks but it's whether I can be fined if I go out what I'm concerned about. Nosy neighbours who know I'm isolating could well report me.

Well maybe they’ll kindly walk your dog if they’re going to be fascists about it.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 09/06/2021 20:02

How do they know you're meant to be isolating?? Just tell them you're checking your eyesight Wink

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 09/06/2021 20:12

I didn't. I've had a couple of SI seshs. Self isolation means just that. Not being out and about unless you are the sole occupant of a desert island. You are asked to self-idolate because you have been identified as being in close contact with someone who had Covid. You could unknowingly have Covid. However, you have been asked to self isolate in case you unknowingly have it. You could unknowingly pass it on to others. Then then could unknowingly have it. They could pass it on, possibly unknowingly. Etc etc etc etc. Does this sound familiar? Because it should. Because this is the story of this planet's life at the moment. You have been contacted to ask you to do your bit by breaking your chain of transmission. So. I would say. No.

Walk him but keep your distance from others. There's next to no risk outside away from crowds and other people.

Obviously don't go to Tesco or to the pub.

I'd walk your dog but avoid busy times - maybe dusk when there are less folk about or early morning. I think it's a little unclear if you're allowed to walk your dog or not, if you actually had covid then I'd err on the side of caution.

I’d walk the dog. My DH did when he had to isolate after I tested positive. Dogs need walking and I think it’s better to take your own dog out somewhere where you can stay distanced from everyone than having to get a dog walker/friend etc to come to your house to collect and return the dog and be in closer contact.
