How close to due date to book vaccine?

Sorry to start another thread about vaccine and pregnancy!

Baby’s due date is today! (Hurray!!) and vaccines have finally opened up for my age group but I can’t decide on timings. I would rather have the vaccine post baby, because if I feel groggy for a few days after I don’t want to feel already under the weather for the birth which could be any time in the next 2 weeks.

I also don’t know how long to wait afterwards to have it when I’ll be recovering from birth, probably not sleeping very much and will generally be quite run down.

Has anyone had the vaccine close to/around the time they gave birth? How did you find it?

I’ve had some suggestions to wait until after my 6 week post birth check but that seems so far away and I really want to get some level of protection.

Id say now. You might have some time in hospital post birth and Id rather be as protected as possible.

I’ve just had my first vaccine and have had to book my second for very close to my due date. It’s so difficult isn’t it. I would say go for it now, get it done. I felt absolutely fine after mine, as did the majority of people I know, the sooner you are protected the better. There is no good time to be feeling a little under the weather but you will cope.

I can’t. I really can’t go for it.

I had AstraZeneca. I’m under 40 and i just know I will be that 1 who has a blood clot and dies.

Just had my first and I’ve got two weeks left until I’m due baby. If it helps at all I had Moderna and had zero side effects other than a bit of a sore arm x

After talking to my midwife and reading more about the common (more than 1 in 10) side effects on the NHS website I’ve decided to hold off until baby is born.

The main one that bothered me is fever, if I go into labour or my waters break and I have a fever even if it’s just temporary because of the vaccine then that could lead to unnecessary interventions.

We’re lucky here that you can generally book a vaccine slot for the next day. So plan to go as soon as I’m up and about post birth.
