Anyone getting the vaccine now if you have been putting off until now?

With the latest news of the Delta variance has it changed your mind?

I’m wavering on my decision- the reason to have it is obvious I suppose but

Other than the questions around clots etc I’ve always wondered

How much training have the vaccinators actually had? There are lots of people I know who have suffered muscular issues after the vaccination and its diagnosed as incorrect way of injecting

It feels like the 111 debacle when that went live- 1 hour training and you are handling life threatening (possible) calls

Then the whole issue around clots, and other bleeds etc. I’ve known two people go to seek advice for a possible bleed ( rash all over) only to be told ‘it looked fine’- no blood test nothing. Are they actually taking this seriously or thinking well if a few pass away out if millions it’s collateral damage? No one is going to be held responsible are they?

So many questions but I’ll have to make a decision soon I suppose- I’m 40 and if I go by the media I’ll be dead this time next month

I thought only one type had caused clots? So you could refuse that one. And I haven't heard of damage caused by injecting it incorrectly but it really can’t be that much of a traumatic injury from one small needle, everyone doing vaccines will have done hundreds if not thousands by now. I do believe in making your own choice but it sounds like you need to do better research to reassure yourself either way as your reasons for not wanting it sound like clutching at straws, so you could probably reassure yourself and be able to get the vaccine quite easily. Having a rash that no medical professional was worried about, and clearly didn’t result in death (or it would have been in the media), really isn’t a reason that would put me off getting it personally.

Good point.

JaffaRaf · 06/06/2021 18:59

So basically a small human error, whilst vaccinating 40 million people, resulted in no one being harmed and everyone still getting the full vaccine. Not exactly reason to avoid the vaccine in my opinion.

MercyBooth · 06/06/2021 19:00

I didnt say it was Hmm

JaffaRaf · 06/06/2021 19:01

Didn’t say you had Hmm

FourteenthDoctor · 06/06/2021 19:05

Have it it don't have it. I couldn't care less. What are you expecting from this thread?

delilahbucket · 06/06/2021 19:05

I know someone who has been training to be a vaccinator. Believe me, they are not given an hour's training and told to get on with it 🙄.
Incidentally a family member was injected by a fully trained nurse and had the biggest bruise and ridiculously painful arm for a couple of weeks afterwards. I had blood taken by a fully trained nurse who went in at such an angle she caused permanent scarring in my arm and I can no longer have blood taken in that place anymore.
I broke out in a rash around my vaccination site. It was gone 24 hours later. The antibiotics they gave me "just in case" to treat it though caused me to break out in a rash all down my legs and I felt absolutely horrendous. Definitely the antibiotics as I felt so much better when they put me on a different one.
Honestly OP, your hesitations are unfounded. If you don't want AZ because you are concerned about clotting, book for Pfizer or Moderna.

TubeOfSmarties · 06/06/2021 19:06

It was a nurse who did me, so highly medically trained. The Delta variant is if anything a greater reason to get vaccinated, certainly not a reason to decide against it.

Anyone know what happens if you have the vaccine then later turns out you were covid positive at the time of the jab? Had the vaccine Friday and now been tracked and traced.

No x

Really you personally know lots of people who’ve suffered muscular issues because they were injected wrong? How many exactly is lots because I’ve not heard of anyone?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/06/2021 19:18

I'm 30 and personally would have refused AZ. Luckily the advice changed from under 30s to under 40s before it was my turn, had my Pfizer 8 days ago and glad I did.

woodfort · 06/06/2021 19:30

I’m sure anyone performing a vaccination has, by this point, stuck hundreds of not thousands of needles in arms now.
Are they not mostly doctors, nurses, phlebotomists and other medical professionals like dentists etc doing it?

I know one of my friends is a consultant and had to do some injections the other year for some reason or another (I think there was some kind of nurses strike?) and was very worried about it. As she said, the more senior you get the less you have to do that stuff and actually for her and some colleagues it had been years. People got quite excited that it was the senior doctors doing their vaccinations but my friend said you’d be much better off having someone who did it day in day out doing it as I am sure 99.99% of the vaccinators are. They are probably injecting people more than they ever have.

woodfort · 06/06/2021 19:56

It also sounds like you’ve got the wrong end of the stick a bit re: all the volunteers how how well trained people are? The volunteers are non clinical - just directing people about, marking people off on the lists etc. You’re not going to get someone who normally woks in an office and volunteered a few months a go sticking a needle in your arm!

Regards the other concerns, I think it’s ok to be a bit scared about a new vaccine albeit one that has been given to millions by now already. This is a decision that you need to take. I didn’t hesitate at my vaccine but it wasn’t out of fear of Covid more out of the hope that every extra person who gets vaccinated makes the case bigger for opening up.

Namechangednotatroll · 06/06/2021 20:15

@woodfort good point - yes I seem to have got the wrong end of the stick re: vaccinators
Glad to know it’s the professionals doing it.

Yes also the the case for opening up. I have some medical issues which is causing the delay in me making up my mind

I did notice at my vaccine, the lady who injected me didn't change the needle after drawing up. My arm hurt after and I wonder if perhaps it was because the needle was blunt Hmm?

Happened to my husband - the “I’m starting a cold” feeling he had when he went for his first jab turned out to be Covid.

He’s fine.

EmergencyHydrangea · 07/06/2021 21:33

Learning how to inject is really easy though? They send me home with a bunch of syringes after I gave birth and just expected me to get on with it
