DS says they're heard nothing yet, which is concerning with the delta variant in his area

DS2 has - he is in a postcode where they can turn up and queue with no age restrictions. Him and lots of his mates went together .

DS1 is in middle of final exams and didn't want to risk a reaction otherwise he would be going.

CovidCorvid · 04/06/2021 13:30

They’re not down to that age group yet. But some areas such as Hounslow and Bolton have been offering walk in vaccinations for anyone 18 or over.

chesirecat99 · 04/06/2021 14:49

Only the medical students at my DC's universities have been contacted and vaccinated but there have been some pop up walk in clinics open to all over 18s that some of the students have gone to (London).

If your DS is in a hot spot, he needs to be checking the local press to see if there are any open clinics. Our borough has a COVID newsletter that sends notifications about the clinics but you have to sign up for it.

lljkk · 04/06/2021 14:59

Not routinely but obviously some have had it thru occupation, contacts about the left over dose of the day, clinical vulnerability or caring roles.

PuffingPansy · 04/06/2021 15:02

18 and 19 year olds are routinely being called here (London borough). Everyone else who wants one has already been done.

yikesanotherbooboo · 04/06/2021 15:05

DN and her friends have had theirs in a large university town.

Shimy · 04/06/2021 15:06

DS1 has but he's in Cardiff.

Is your DS registered with a GP at home or at uni, OP? Mine had to change back when they were at home to get an appointment during lockdown as they were at home for more than a few months so couldn't register as a temporary patient. If he isn't registered at uni, he won't be called for vaccination if the uni town is offering vaccines to younger people before your home town.

It's worth checking, one of mine forgot to reregister until they had to book their vaccine appointment.

TropicalFairyCake · 04/06/2021 15:15

Our local uni invited all students to the hub one morning recently and completely underestimated the amount that would come. All day queues!

titchy · 04/06/2021 15:19

One of mine has too (Wales - who are doing fantastically well jabbing people!). Other one still waiting...

Not just there. The Scottish government have fucked up so badly with their appointments (sending letters out to the wrong address) that there have been several reports of loads of appointments being missed, especially in areas with lots of students.

DS is 18 and still at school but had his this week as the local centre had excess Pfizer and was doing anyone who turned up.

iknowimcoming · 04/06/2021 15:54

Dd is in Birmingham and there are clinics there offering no appt jabs (with queue times around 2-3 hours) and others offering 'leftover' call-ups for anyone over 18.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 04/06/2021 15:58

Dd is in uni in York but still registered with her gp at home in Wales. It has paid off as they are vaccinating all ages depending on what vaccine they have available now and she is booked to get her 1st jab next Fri.

Wilkolampshade · 04/06/2021 17:02

DD1 Edinburgh, has been invited to sign up
DD2 London, has had a sort of 'any minute now' text from her Health Centre.

SouthKoreaquestion · 04/06/2021 21:51

DS is at Cardiff University and had his first jab a few weeks ago. I think they had a system under which students could sign up to be on a reserve list.

Wbeezer · 04/06/2021 21:55

Ds1 22 and DS2 20 are being done on Sunday.

BeyondMyWits · 04/06/2021 21:59

Dd20 had hers in Swansea. Dd18 will no doubt, be waiting a while yet in Gloucestershire.

starfish4 · 04/06/2021 22:09

BeyondMyWits DD registered with doctors surgery in Gloucestershire - their website says they'll be texting 18+ mid June asking them to book.

ErrolTheDragon · 04/06/2021 22:25

Some of DDs friends have. She could have had hers today but she's got to do the presentation for her masters year project on Monday so delayed it till later next week as she didn't want to risk any possible side effects throwing her off kilter before then.

BeyondMyWits · 05/06/2021 09:16

@starfish4 thank you for that, fingers crossed...

JoeMaplin · 05/06/2021 09:17

Some of my son's friends have. Our area are calling early 20s. Ds is registered with a gp in his uni town where they haven't yet reached his age bracket.

boys3 · 05/06/2021 11:08

University College London has told its students of all ages they can receive vaccinations from noon on Saturday at a surgery near its Bloomsbury campus

"The vaccination will be offered to all UCL students regardless of age on a first-come, first-served basis and no prior booking is required. We recommend you arrive early, as only a limited number of vaccinations are available on the day,” UCL said in a message to its 44,000 students.

DD has but she's in Cardiff

marmaduke888 · 05/06/2021 11:29

My son has but we are in wales and he had the letter to our home address rather than through uni so he came home to get it (he’s not too far away)

DinosaurDiana · 05/06/2021 11:31

Mine has had both , but got done due to asthma.
