Can you take baby with you in the sling when you have the vaccine?

Hello, has anyone taken their small baby to the vaccine appointment in a sling, or knows whether this is allowed? I can't not take 6 week old breastfed DS with me, but equally can't manage getting in and out of tube stations with the pram on my own. So I was thinking to have baby in the wrap sling (which we usually use and I'm most comfortable with when it comes to taking him out), but wondered whether this might be seen as an issue? Can I have the jab whilst he's literally strapped to me at the time (hopefully asleep! 😬)
Thanks!

The lady in front of me did; and plenty in the queue had babies, so I think it should be okay based on that!

Yes it's fine just make sure the top of your arm is easily accessible with a short sleeved top, so your not disturbing him in the sling!

At 6 wks and EBF where you go baby goes, and staff will understand that (I am a vaccinator)

When I went, there were kids, toddlers, babies in prams and slings and newborns. It was fine, so do what suits.

I guess the main issue would be what happens if you feel unwell after the jab or have a rare allergic reaction to it?

That's what I was wondering about - whether they wouldn't let you have it with baby strapped to you in case you collapse or whatever during the 15 min wait afterwards.

Yes, that will be fine

EShellstrop · 31/05/2021 19:41

Feeling woozy afterwards would be my concern, but I am clumsy and always on edge when I had baby in a sling.

HJ40 · 31/05/2021 19:47

I'm sure it would be fine, just wear a short sleeve top so they can get to your arm without having to remove the sling.

Also don't worry about the 15 mins,I went to the Heathrow centre and DH another one in Surrey and neither had to sit out the 15 minutes inside; we got told to wait in the car. I did wait but saw loads of people come back to their cars and just set off straight away!

Baby would be well looked after if you felt unwell

HildegardNightingale · 31/05/2021 20:16

Work in a vax centre. If you felt unwell there would be a queue of vaccination workers happy to look after your baby for you. Honestly just take your baby in a sling and don’t worry about it

hilarymantlepiece · 31/05/2021 20:18

Why not? What are you supposed to do with him for the few minutes it takes?

Feeling woozy? Sit down at the centre for 15 minutes, or as long as you need.

hilarymantlepiece · 31/05/2021 20:20

(fWIW, don’t have a little one. I’m a doddery old wreck. Didn’t feel the least woozy)

Doublechocolatetiffin · 31/05/2021 20:23

I did exactly this when I had my jab on Friday. Baby in sling, short sleeved top on so they could jab me without needing to take anything off.

They were also fine with me pacing up and down rather than sitting for 15 mins so she didn't cry.

starpatch · 31/05/2021 20:26

I ended up taking my 9 year old, he was unexpectedly off school so it was that or waste an appointment, they were fine with it.

ACatCalledLola · 31/05/2021 22:57

I did for mine and it was absolutely fine.

Laura0000 · 01/06/2021 05:29

Thanks all, that's reassuring!
