21 yr old moving from Scotland to England in June, to have first jab in Scotland or not? .

Hi all.
My DC is finishing at Edinburgh Uni this year and her tenancy ends at the end of June. She's registered for a jab up there but no appointment yet. If she gets the first one in Edinburgh but then moves back home to England does anyone know how transferable that info is to NHS England and how this will work? When she registers for a new GP in London will that information just travel with her?
Thanks.

She might experience some glitches. Should be ok if her NHS number was issued in England. There are some odd Scottish NHS numbers that cause problems with transfer.

Thanks @LemonTT, we had heard some negative press around this and were half wondering whether to hold off or not but yes, her NHS number is her old English one (I think) and anyway she would rather get on with it ASAP. 😊

@Wilkolampshade - I’m working on the vaccine programme. Right now, if you had a vaccine in Scotland under the Scottish NHS, but are registered with a GP in England at the time, then the info doesn’t flow into your English NHS record, but the tech teams in both nations are working on making that happen.

I’m not actually sure what happens if you only have a Scottish NHS record, and then later register with a GP in England. I’d therefore suggest your DC has their vaccine when offered in Scotland, then registers with a GP in England when they move home, and then tells the GP the date of the Scottish jab, and asks to book an appointment for tue second 12 weeks later.

Once you’ve got an English NHS number (or if your DC does already - they can check here, then you can book an appointment via the [[https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ National
Booking Service website]] - it will only show non AstraZeneca appointments if you are under 40. You can book a first jab appointment and just tell them it’s actually your second, if the system hasn’t recognised your DC’s Scottish jab by then.

I’d be surprised if your DC is registered in Scotland under their England NHS number - Scotland use a different system of numbers, which start with “CHI”.

Should have said - your DC can EITHER ask their new GP in England to book the second dose, OR see if they can go via the National Booking Service, with their English NHS number.

Amazing @Wigeon, thank you so much. Star

I'm sure there must be a way around it. If info isn't transferred, worst case scenario you're DC will have one in Scotland, then be called in England for their first, it's just be a case of ensuring they have the same vaccine. Our main town hub states it's only doing Pfizer.

My DD at Edinburgh uni, over the last 18 months she's had four operations, only one planned. All required dressings for 2/3 weeks, the last one still having them after seven weeks. It's been really easy getting her transferred for a few days, and then back. England insist she needs to be registered before treatment, Scotland will see her regardless for assessment.

I'd wait to get it done in England if she can. I work in Wales (healthcare) and I had both vaccinations Jan/Feb. I live in England though and I have the NHS app and none of my vaccination information is on there. I have notified my GP practice of dates, batch number etc of each vaccination but I'm still getting txt messages asking me to book my vaccination as a priority. The systems do not communicate at all.

I have no plans to travel abroad but I imagine I would struggle to show confirmation of my vaccination if I needed to.
