Protection after first Pfizer vaccine?

So I've just had my first Pfizer vaccine and I'm wondering when you may get any/some/full protection please?
Obviously I'm not going to change the way I behave with Covid procedures or anything it's just I've been anxious and eager to get my vaccine I'm looking for some reassurance that I may be better protected by just having my first vaccine than I was before having none 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

At least two weeks afterwards.

The first dose gives pretty good protection from the previous covid variants a couple of weeks after the jab, but not so great when it comes to the B.1.617.2 ("Indian") variant that's now becoming dominant. The latest figures seemed to suggest only about 33%. Sad I was so relieved to get my first dose too two weeks ago and then this news came out right after so feeling a bit deflated... have to wait until July now for my 2nd to get better protection.

It takes a long time, at least 3 weeks for the majority of people’s le to have antibodies and even then the antibody level is quite low until second dose.

UCL have done a study on this, look at figure 1. Pink is az, purple Pfizer.

After 3 weeks you'll have antibodies. 33% would then be expected to get no symptoms at all if they were in contact with the Indian variant. Most of the rest will get some protection, making the disease less severe but unfortunately still with some symptoms. You're also on your way now to the second jab, 2 weeks after which you'll have developed loads more antibodies, enough that 83% would be expected to get no symptoms at all if they were in contact with the Indian variant. Reduction in severity of illness for those who get symptoms also increases, so many of those who might have been hospitalised get a mild case instead. Whether immunity keeps developing from there is unclear because it's untested, it's thought that AZ takes longer to build to the same level, but it's also possible that Pfizer will continue increasing for a longer period. If you got another booster it's extremely likely that 83% would increase even further, but if you're young and healthy then most likely you are in the 83% and wouldn't need it.
