German scientists claim to have solved Covid vaccine blood-clot puzzle

It doesn't seem to be plastered all over the news as yet (have seen it reported in the FT and Standard so far), so am assuming other outlets are awaiting further information/confirmation ... who knows ... but it's a glimmer of hope that the clot issue may be resolved at some point in the near future.

Very interesting (and worrying), here's the preprint paper:

Vaccine-Induced Covid-19 Mimicry” Syndrome:

Splice reactions within the SARS-CoV-2 Spike open reading frame result in Spike protein variants that may cause thromboembolic events in patients immunized with vector-based vaccines

Thought this was positive, it was reported but quite low key. Hopefully it can be resolved.

@CrunchyCarrot my science is not enough to understand why you bit you quote is 'wrrying' - could you elaborate?

"parts of the spike protein splice or split apart and create mutant versions"

what does that mean??

I had AZ last week with a lot of misgivings but the pressure to have it was immense. I have never regretted anything more.

That's how it works though isn't it, pressure. I had the Pfizer last Saturday, I've had a migraine and diarrhoea since. Miserable doesn't come close.

cornflake12 · 28/05/2021 08:15

I had pzifer had both regret them too but felt I had too was so pressured into it. I also have a bad stomach and a period that won't stop and feel so tired and out of it.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 28/05/2021 08:40

It's worrying insofar as something was released into general use with such an issue in the first place and we're having to address it after the event so to speak, I agree. But surely it's a positive that it looks like the problem has been identified.

Pfizer/Moderna work differently (not entering the nucleus of the cell) so don't have the same concern.
