2nd AZ vaccine

hellosunshine9 · 22/05/2021 08:57

Has anyone in their 30s had their 1st AZ vaccine and are scared to have the 2nd? What will happen if I refuse the second?

If you refuse the second all that will happen is that you'll be less well protected. And you might get a few phone calls from your GP to ask you to book an appointment.

But why wouldn't you have it?

I'm not going to pretend I know it all (like most on here). Im just worried about side effects etc. I'm low risk when it comes to falling seriously ill with covid and suppose I've just scared myself by reading up on the AZ jab (blood clot risks).

It's all about putting the risk in perspective. It's incredibly low, and you do many things in everyday life that pose a higher risk of death, like driving/being a passenger in a car. There are side effects with every medicine, even paracetamol. Would you even think to look the side effects up?
JayDot500 · 22/05/2021 10:08

I'm 34, had my second jab two days ago. If it kills me I can't let you know, but I have had no side effects with this one so far. I know plenty of people younger than me who have had their second jab due to their underlying conditions, they are fine. You could choose to wait it out, it's your choice.

The ground will open up beneath you and you will be eaten by hell fire.

Seriously what are you worried about you survived the first

Quiero · 22/05/2021 10:24

Fuck me. Why not read one of the eleventy billion other threads on this topic before starting another one. There is literally more information and opinion about this bloody vaccine on this forum than there is about anything else.

Indeed, it dominates mn, I guess the OP hasn't read any of the other billion threads with stats showing the minute chance of serious side effects to first dose yet alone already had one ....

Some people have nothing to do so worry about anything and everything

At 9am you posted on another thread that you have just cancelled your 2nd vaccine.
So why come on here and ask what will happen.
What has happened is that the first vaccine will gradually lose its effectiveness and you won’t be protected.

Spekoppar · 22/05/2021 11:42

Im in my 30s and have my 2nd AZ in a couple of hours, can’t wait! I’m likely at more risk crossing the busy road between my house and the surgery than I am from the jab.

hellosunshine9 · 22/05/2021 12:05

No need to get angry about it! Some of you need to calm down. As I said, I don't know much about the vaccine, I'm not anti vax but I'm certainly no expert. I just wanted to know what people think! And yes I did comment on another thread at 9am, is not allowed then?!

OP posts:
hellosunshine9 · 22/05/2021 12:12

@Quiero if it makes you so angry why are you scrolling through the mums net coronavirus forum?

OP posts:
hellosunshine9 · 22/05/2021 12:26

The reason I am worried is because everyone I know is now being offered an alternative to the AZ jab. If it's safe why would that be the case?

So you want to know what people think but get annoyed when people tell you what they think?

Ok...

The risks of the second vaccine are much lower than the risks of the first so it seems odd to have one but not the other.
Additionally the risks from the vaccine are significantly less than the risks from CIVID so unless you plan to shield indefinitely you may want to reconsider

My daughter is 32 and having her 2nd AZ in a few days. She's grateful to be protected and treatingthe risk as the tiny thing it is, it's far more dangerous contracting covid, for lots of reasons.

hellosunshine9 · 22/05/2021 13:21

@KidneyBeans my partner who I sleep next to every night has had covid and I can assure you the effects from my vaccine were a lot worse than his covid symptoms. I also slept next to him every night and didn't catch it (I was tested twice, negative both times) I'd also spent time with his parents who both had it (we didn't know at the time) I also didn't catch it after that. His parents who are in their 70s also had no symptoms other than a bit of a cold.
