Soft play saying you don't have to wear a mask inside

I went to a soft play yesterday and as people entered the staff were saying you don't have to wear your mask because it counts as physical activity.

Does anyone know if this is correct?

I'm not sure of the answer but I know I'd avoid going there.

Some places take protecting staff and customers from Covid a lot more seriously than others. I prefer the more safety conscious places.

Pretty sure they are making up the rules there 🙈

I’ve been to 3 this week (yep, making up for lost time 🤣 also, the weather is just shit and I’m delighted to have an indoor way of entertaining my children) & I had to wear a mask in every one. It’s physical activity for kids, not adults. You can take them off at your table if eating or drinking though..

JimBobNoJob · 20/05/2021 12:27

Well I’m assuming that parents are only supervising on the equipment and not actually using it themselves, so no physical activity.

Sounds like they are making their own rules

I can see this applying to the children but surely if they are young enough for soft play they are exempt anyway.

Frazzled2207 · 20/05/2021 14:16

the one I know that has reopened (most round here now have their businesses for sale) say that adults should wear a mask unless eating/drinking. The parents there are drinking their coffees very slowly.

The very idea that the adults are taking part in physical activity is a joke. Perhaps the children are but they should be exempt ayway.

Patapouf · 20/05/2021 14:20

Haha whilst I certainly find soft play exhausting I think that's a bit of a piss take and would snitch to the relevant authority. Parents should have masks on unless they are sat at a table (and even then I'd be more comfortable if they wore masks)

usernotfound0000 · 20/05/2021 14:33

The one I've been to this week said masks need to be worn moving around the building, so on the play frame etc (not kids obviously) but not if you were sat at a table, regardless of eating or drinking. I'm not sure if that is right, but I went out for a meal indoors last night, I didn't wear my mask at all once sat down, but I wasn't eating or drinking the entire time.

Hairwizard · 20/05/2021 14:39

Good for them.
Havent ever wore one yet and never will i put one of those fucking rags near my face.

brondary · 20/05/2021 14:41

Soft play is transmission central for any viruses. I am surprised anyone is going back yet.

RaisinsRuinEverything · 20/05/2021 17:21

It sounds about right. Choirs are also classed as an activity and masks aren’t needed when actually singing but are the rest of the time.
