Breastfeeding & Getting Vaccinated

I was wondering if anyone who is breastfeeding and has already had their vaccine could share any info/side effects if any were had. To mum and/or baby. I am feeding a 12 wk old and just cannot make a choice and I’m frustrating myself Confused My head can argue the for and against all by itself! Thanks in advance Smile

Had mine. No problems so far, slightly sore arm for a couple of days only issue.

Also the vaccinator pointed out to me that when I create antibodies I will pass some on to baby so win/win.

What is it you're worried about?

Thank you - all sounds positive to me and definitely a win all round. My main concern is the unknown, both the immediate and long term for baby, which I believe would be a given worry to any mum who has concerns to stamp out. My trail of thought is exactly as you have said, that it will only be a positive for us both. We take the flu and whooping cough jabs without even questioning it, so one presumes it will work in the same way. I think it's how new it is that then sets of my 'but what if' thoughts, and baby being so tiny and new too! If I wasn't feeding I wouldn't be questioning it in my mind which may be daft I don't know BlushI think I'm more towards having it as I do want it, I just wanted to hear from some mums who confidently had theirs and are happy to share their experience, so thanks again Smile

There’s been a thread on this previously which might help you: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4245210-Vaccine-Breastfeeding

There's a recent medical study out of Israel that showed that vaccinated breastfeeding mothers actually passed the antibodies down to their babies so the babies were protected against COVID.

Baby was totally fine. I had a sore arm but feel really relieved they are getting some protection from Covid. We know Covid is bad. We don't know the long term effects of babies and children getting Covid. We know vaccines prevent Covid and severe illness. I'd rather have the vaccine than Covid.

I had flu like symptoms for about 12 hours, baby was fine. I was told it was beneficial in terms of them getting antibodies
