Still shielding

We've spent most of the last 12 months shielding DH and he's not really worked in all that time. Most things were left to me shopping, caring and helping out parents, sorting the kids etc as he couldn't leave the house

He's now had the 2 jabs and still hasn't thought about going back to work. He's self employed and luckily he did qualify for the SSEIS grant but to be honest it doesn't really cover most of his income. That's not really the problem we've coped and adjusted accordingly.

Any others out there just not getting back to 'normal', quite happy to stay in a bubble?
I'm finding it hard that the rest of the family have adapted and gotten by but he's just happy to stay in isolation

Oh op this is awful. While I can understand his anxiety if he has had both vaccinations he should be certainly pulling his weight helping with the dc and shopping etc let alone getting back to work. You need to be firm with him.

DappledOliveGroves · 18/05/2021 15:38

Hold on, why is he still effectively shielding if he's had both vaccines? What's his condition? Has the GP told him he is vulnerable or is it an anxiety or mental health condition?

Is he concerned the vaccine might not work for him? (I’m presuming the reason he shielded also be a reason he might be in a group that may not develop antibodies). You can get a private test for antibodies for about £50. onlinedoctor.lloydspharmacy.com/uk/coronavirus-covid-19-testing/covid-19-antibody-test-kit?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6b-FmpeS8AIVU4BQBh3UtAOUEAAYASAAEgJkSfD_BwE#will-i-get-my-result-instantly

If you think it goes deeper than that and he’s developed agoraphobia or similar then yes he needs to acknowledge it and deal with it. It’s unfair to expect you to carry him if he’s not even trying.
