My son is 11 and has a positive test. So far only a sore throat. We also have an 8 year old and 9 month old. So nervous. I'm asthmatic. None of us have had a jab yet. Me and husband are mid 30s. We have negative test so far but it's inevitable now isn't it :(

Sorry to hear this. Last month, Friends of ours, daughter 15 first caught it, then her dad a week later. But the mum and 2 younger brothers didn’t catch it, so you may well not catch it.

It’s not a given at all. My DD who is 4 tested positive so we isolated over Christmas. All she had was a temperature but other than that, absolutely fine. Neither me or my husband were affected fortunately.

sorry to hear this OP I hope you are all okay, keep us updated with how you are

Abraxan · 17/05/2021 14:58

It's not guaranteed you will all catch it.
Dh didn't when I had it and he stayed in same bedroom before, during and after (bar when I was in hospital)
Neither did teen Dd who didn't distance either.

We have Covid at the moment. DS is positive but completely symptom free. He’s 8. DH is negative so far.

Sending love. Do you think your son got it from School? X

Sarahsteedman · 18/05/2021 16:01

You may not get it, my DH had it last year and myself and 2 under 3s didn't get it even though I'm on immunosuppressants and at the highest risk of all. Take care and keep your windows open to get a cross breeze in the house!

BlackeyedSusan · 18/05/2021 17:49

Asthma, without steroid medication, is not a bigger risk according to dd's drs. Check it out from a trusted source like asthma UK.

Apart from that of course it is a worry. Just do your best to get through it one bit at a time. Whether that is day, hour or minute...

kimlo · 18/05/2021 18:41

dd had it and nobody else in the house got it.
She is asthmatic but she doubled up on her steroids and took her blue every 4 hours, she was poorly but not hospital poorly. Her asthma still osn't right, but she's ok.
