Vaccination - no childcare

DutchMummy88 · 15/05/2021 00:29

I'm booked in to have my second jab tomorrow morning.
My childcare option fell through last minute and now I'm wondering if I can take the kids with me (6&4) last time I was in and out within 15 min.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?

No but there was a man there with his two small kids in their PJs when I had my first jab. They sat with books in a corner whilst he had his actual jab. I know because I was next in line after him.

Not ideal, but if there if no alternative what choice do you have?

Wheresmybiscuit3 · 15/05/2021 00:34

Just take them with you.

Wheresmybiscuit3 · 15/05/2021 00:34

It’ll be okay. I’m sure they will understand

IHaveBrilloHair · 15/05/2021 00:35

Just take them.

DutchMummy88 · 15/05/2021 00:40

Thanks all!

I know it's far from ideal which is why I arranged childcare.
I'll try my best to get a friend to watch them for a bit, but if no luck I'll just take them with me.

Is it mandatory to sit down for 10 minutes after or can you choose not to?

When I went for my first vaccination noone told me to wait for 10 mins afterwards. Everyone was straight out the building so I just walked home.

I know you have to stay sitting down for 15 minutes after the Pfizer vaccine. I don't think that's negotiable. I am sure you won't be the only person in this position and with the news as it is, I am sure they would want you to have the second dose rather than miss your appointment.

Wheresmybiscuit3 · 15/05/2021 01:03

It isn’t mandatory to sit in there. I was allowed to sit in my car

My partner took our 2 year old on Saturday whilst I was at work, no issues.

My Pfizer they made me stay 15min. DH had AZ at a different centre and was told if he was with someone he could go!

SavingsQuestions · 15/05/2021 05:29

With az we only needed to sit if didnt have someone else driving or we had a history of reactions to such things. My mum had to stay 30mins because she's anaphalactic.

When my mums group were being done lots had carers/someone with them. I think if I had no other choice Id take but explain to person at entrance/make sure they're drilled to stand on the spot with you as mine had strict 2m queuing. Also take something for them to do. Maybe not snacks (hand gelled on way in etc) but to fidget with or play with.

Out centres are in the middle of nowhere so everyone drives or gets taxis. So was just advised to sit in car for 15 minutes before leaving.
