Worried Pfizer hasn't been adminstered correctly

I had my first Pfizer end of February, nurse pinched arm up when she adminstered it and i had really sore arm within hours.

Today i had second, nurse just stabbed it in, didn't feel anything but afterwards she looked at injection site and said it looked okay, it bled a bit.
I am concerned it hasn't been done correctly as i have no discomfort at all so far and i had it done at 12.30 pm.
Are there any nurses in here who can reassure that i am not overthinking?

My arm didnt hurt no where near as much with my 2nd pfizer jab, it was during the night when it did. After the first one i could hardly move my arm afterwards.

I didn’t feel anything with either of my Pfizer jabs, some colleagues had big red swollen lumps the first jab but nothing the second.
The blood will just be because it’s nicked a capillary, the nurse will have done hundreds of jabs (flu, pneumonia, shingles all before Covid vaccs was a thing) try not to worry.

How the injection is administered will depend on the technique of the person giving it. They will all have to have demonstrated competency in doing so.

I had my first Pfizer jab yesterday no one pinched my skin just stabbed it in. Slightly achey arm but nothing major.

Leonardsgirl · 14/05/2021 20:00

I felt nothing after my first jab. I've joked that I don't think I had it. I had my second one earlier this week, and although I didn't have a sore arm I felt incredibly tired the next day.

Why would you think it hadn't been administered properly?

rosie39forever · 14/05/2021 20:11

Your second jab was correct the skin needs to be flattened and injected into the muscle, if the skin is pinched it won't be intramuscular and runs the risk of injecting into a vein which can make you seriously ill. The first person to jab you was badly trained or made a mistake.

GrumpyTerrier · 14/05/2021 20:24

Yes the first method was incorrect, it is an intramuscular injection, just straight into your muscle.

Some nurses were incorrectly trained. I've read a bit about it.

If you were ok the first time though it wont have done any harm.

Thank you all for replying, feel better now after reading them. I am just a bit stressed at moment as my dd has big hospital appointment next month to discuss her heart surgery and i am not sleeping as well so probably overthinking everything.

The first jab sounds more unusual to be honest - I’ve never had an injection where my arm has been pinched. It sounds like a strange way to do it!

MissConductUS · 14/05/2021 21:15

The first injection you got was a subcutaneous injection, meant to put the substance right under the skin. It's used for certain injections like morphine. It won't have been harmful, but it's not how it should have been done.

Fullofthejoysofspring · 14/05/2021 21:36

I had my second Pfizer dose yesterday at 9.30. Didn't hurt at all at the time but my arm started aching this evening.

PaleGreenGhost · 14/05/2021 21:40

Wait and see how you feel tomorrow. I also wondered if they'd made a mistake on 2nd Pfizer because I felt nothing at all. Worries evaporated the next day when sore arm and extreme tiredness set in.

LemonadeFromLemons · 14/05/2021 21:46

Sample size of two second doses here, absolutely zero side effects, so try not to worry!

Christmasfairy2020 · 14/05/2021 22:09

Large needle flat skin draw back get blood then injection in. That's how an I'm is given. Ppl pinch as feel it is kinder? But shouldn't pinch

NotBot · 15/05/2021 11:52

Had my vaccine this morning, she pinched the skin & it bloody hurt Confused Is that OK? Everything I’ve read says you shouldn’t pinch the skin, I even read it can be less effective?!
