Entry to France

Can someone please point me in the direction of where I can find up to date information of what is required to travel to France? On the French side? At the moment I believe you need to self isolate for 7 days on arrival.

I would like to try to find where I can look to assess whether to cancel my holiday (and lose all our money ☹️). We aren't due to go until August.

Up to date details are on gov.uk website for now. Nobody knows what will be in place come August I’m afraid,

Try the Eurotunnel website, it has some useful information for trips in both directions. They update the advice on there as rules change.

Thanks. I know that lots may well change between now and August and that no one knows how it will go.

I just needed somewhere to go to look every few weeks to keep an eye on it.

Thanks for your suggestions, very helpful.

At the moment you need a PCR test to travel and you are asked to self isolate on arrival for 7 days. On your way back, you will need a PCR test 72 hours before (free in France), and you need to have booked a day 2 and 8 tests. Proof that it's been booked is required to travel. It costs around £240 per person (compulsory for all over 5 yo) and is very unreliable (private companies running it don't send the tests, don't provide results...). You also need to take the test to the post box which is ridiculous but that's a different story. You will need to self isolate for 10 days on return (or 14 at the most if your day 8 test doesn't come back on time...) but you can always do a day 5 test for early release if you still have money to spend on tests...

The French embassy website is a good port of call for travel in both directions.

Also the British Embassy Paris Facebook page posts travel updates.
At the moment you have to have a negative pcr test and then you are asked to self isolate for 7 days but June 9th is the set date for easing travel restrictions and I think it’s highly unlikely any visitors would need to quarantine after that date.
