Bubble with ECV - vaccine?

NC just for privacy. My mum is ECV, with a couple of conditions that make her very vulnerable plus a high dose of steroids that make her immunocompromised.

We’ve been bubbled with my parents since November due to having a child under one but we’ve only met outdoors due to my nervousness but we are shortly about to spend a couple months living with them between houses (we’ve sold but the top of the chain isn’t ready). It’s not too clear when exactly that will be, probably in the next couple weeks.

I’m anxious about living my mum, who is vaccinated admittedly but my mums consultant has said it’s unclear if significantly immunocompromised people have the same level is protection. Which is worrying.

Do we qualify to get a vaccine under the rule of soon to be living with a ECV person? Is that a thing? My mums consultant thinks so & has told us to push for a vaccine but my GP says no, we just need to wait 🤷🏼‍♀️ We are 33, so I’m thinking it’ll be another month at least..

Whatever the answer is, it’s fine, I just wondered what others peoples experience had been! My colleague got a vaccine due to his mum being ECV & living with her.. so I know some GP’s are on board..

I got a letter that said anyone I live with could have the vaccination. But if you’re moving in with them so soon you may not have time. And of course it takes a while for immunity to develop.
I have been told I’m ECV. So shielding. Therefore not in a bubble. Maybe they think if you’ve already had contact then it’s a bit late to worry??

The contact we’ve had has been outdoors & 2m apart, so meeting in the park & sitting on different benches. Or our garden & chairs at least 2m apart. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess not properly ‘bubbled’ but it outside the general rules of not going in gardens & only meeting for exercise. It just enabled my mum to see her new Granddaughter albeit from a distance..

But now we’ll be living with them indoors for a minimum of two months, could be longer, buying & selling house is a painful process 😩- so quite different. Would it help once we move in to month evidence we live together with our GP?!

Not sure. My letter came direct from a central hub. But then my situation was different. Shielding people haven’t been going out and mixing. Even at 2m distant.

Move your post immediately and the doctor to your mum's address. Tell them you now need the vaccine. Then move house in a couple of weeks.

I'm CEV, immunocompromised and had both vaccines.
mums consultant has said it’s unclear if significantly immunocompromised people have the same level is protection
Would your mum take an antibody test? Costs about £50 and can tell you if you have S antibodies (ie from the vaccine.)

I am having monthly antibody tests as part of research and I know that I didn't make abs in the first couple of weeks as people usually do but I had them from ten weeks after first dose.
Last week was 3 weeks after my second dose and I pre-empted Boris by hugging my adult DC.

Just to clarify I was shielding but shielding was ended 31st March.

I think you will struggle to get it if you aren't actually living with her and when you do it will be for only two months. I really struggled to get my DH and DC done who do live with me permanently.

I'm in Scotland so can't book online. But why don't you access the online booking form, if you can and see if you are eligible that way?

I asked this on another thread and someone pointed me in the direction of the NHS rules which are that some people qualify for vaccine if they live with an ecv person. The person has to be severely immune compromised, ie undergoing chemotherapy. Other conditions do not entitle family members to vaccine.
