Why would brother have been offered the vaccine?

Redleavesfalling289 · 10/05/2021 18:58

My brother has just received a text asking him to go for the vaccine. Big northern city. He's 25 - 3 years younger than me. I live in a Southern suburb.

The only things we can think are he was investigated for MS-like symptoms a few years back (everything came back clear.) He also used to be very overweight, but he's now very slim (I probably weigh more than him now.) Blush

Are some places just that far ahead or is it likely to be another reason?

Maybe his medical record hasn't been up dated.

titchy · 10/05/2021 19:03

Maybe he's on a reserve list? (My 20 year old in Wales had it last week from being on a reserve list.)

DogsSausages · 10/05/2021 19:03

Does he live in one of the high rate areas like Derby and they are offering tests

Spectrumofhumanlife · 10/05/2021 19:04

Some places are that far ahead. An area close to me is on over 25’s.

This. Some places are now offering 18 years old too. My friends daughter in the North of England has been called and she has no vulnerabilities.
LemonCake79 · 10/05/2021 19:32

I agree with others, they have finished group six so by this point o expect it's just a case of his area being ahead of schedule.

Redleavesfalling289 · 10/05/2021 19:34

Nope, he doesn't live in an area with high Covid rates. Blimey, that is impressive if they're getting to over 25s in some places.

I am not certain how great the system is i got offered it 6 week back (under 40) neither my sister (over 45) but lives elsewhere or my partner (over 40) lives in the same house have been offered theirs. Both work out of home as well. Sistet is not classed as a keyworker but partner is

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 10/05/2021 19:45

Does it matter?

The more people vaccinated the better. It's great that your brother is getting his.

Unless you are worried he's in group 6 but as others have said that group is done and in my area isnnow getting 2nd vaccines.

Mammaaof · 10/05/2021 19:47

My brother is 20 and had his appointment for next week

Siepie · 10/05/2021 20:58

A friend got hers a while ago as part of group 6 because her weight loss hadn't been updated with the GP, so it could be that.

But as others have said, there are also some places that are far ahead.

Kikitree · 10/05/2021 21:06

Is he South Yorks? I've got mine this week and I'm under 30

Kikitree · 10/05/2021 21:08

I've got no underlying conditions either. I think the area I live in has a younger demographic too.

SinkGirl · 10/05/2021 21:10

No idea. I’m a carer (two disabled kids), 38, DH had his first nearly two months ago and I still haven’t had mine. I also have several chronic illnesses but nothing that makes me vulnerable to COVID. Almost everyone I know has had their first, even those much younger than me.

Dancingsmile · 10/05/2021 21:50

My D is 25 and has a date next week to have it. All 25 / 26 Yr olds here have been sent dates.
Some areas are further ahead than others.

You are a carer. Ring 119 or your surgery. It was your turn weeks ago. (This is part of my job)

Medical history

Tealightsandd · 10/05/2021 21:56

You're in a suburb in the south. London? London has been behind with the rollout. A friend's SE London borough had a drop-in clinic at the weekend. The rollout is officially on younger groups but that drop-in was advertised for over 45s.

SinkGirl · 11/05/2021 06:57

I’ve contacted my surgery several times now - still nothing. They flagged me as a carer, but because I’m not a carer for someone “at high risk from COVID” (the risk here is that they’d be at risk if we got sick as theres no one else to look after them) I was apparently not eligible. The government info also says this is the criteria for carers so I assumed they were right.

But now I’ve just checked the online booking again and it says if you’re flagged as a carer by your GP you should be able to book online now - I definitely am, but I can’t. So apparently I need to ask my surgery again.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 11/05/2021 07:24

They are doing the 20 year olds here in Wales too, some places are way ahead of others.

HelloDulling · 11/05/2021 07:26

18 year olds being done here.

LadyCatStark · 11/05/2021 07:27

I’m in the north west and I had mine 3 weeks ago and I’m 35 with no health conditions so it’s not inconceivable that they are now onto over 25s. A friend had hers the week after me and she’s 32.

HowsYourHeadHun · 11/05/2021 07:29

28 and having my second on the weekend.
