I'd love to know the rate of vaccine uptake

In the UK and other countries. Does anyone know? I mean the proportion of people (in each age group) who have been offered it and how many have taken it.

ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations

It's not opening for me properly at the moment, but I think they have the info you want

chocolateorangeinhaler · 09/05/2021 07:17

Google is your friend for this information

Wigeon · 09/05/2021 07:18

Here are stats on the total uptake for adults over 18 in the UK link here

I'd love to know the rate of vaccine uptake
Wigeon · 09/05/2021 07:22

BBC reporting that 95% of over 50s have taken the vaccine, which is quite amazing.

NutellaEllaElla · 09/05/2021 07:42

Thanks, I obviously did google it but what hasn't been clear is the proportion of who has accepted it once they have been offered. In this country as well as others. General stats of how many people in the country have been vaccinated isn't quite answering my question.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for? Percentage vaccinated by age band - those in the 40+ age bands have all been offered it.

Ooh, I hadn't thought about uptake of 2nd doses. Thanks!

For future reference - is it unacceptable to ever ask a question that could be answered via Google?
AlexandraEiffel · 09/05/2021 09:10

data.spectator.co.uk

I like this source as a data geek. It has all sorts of different data sets and representations, some of which change depending what is going on. Has a whole vaccine section. Not sure if it has exactly what you want.

Interesting thanks @AlexandraEiffel.

If it’s really easily googlable then it’s a bit annoying I think. If everyone did that the boards would just be clogged with stuff that doesn’t need to be there. Where mumsnet is really useful is to ask opinions.

ShinyHatStand · 09/05/2021 09:29

Great link @AlexandraEiffel

But I think there’s a lot on mumsnet that could be answered via google. Asking on here means that you might get an answer from someone who has particular knowledge or can quickly point you at the right thing if you don’t know what you’re looking for. If we restricted posting like this half the board would be empty

Great link *@AlexandraEiffel*
Case in point

I would just wait OP, according to a large number of MNers, you will be able to tell the number of people who have had the vaccine by the number of people whose heads explode/ turn into Zombies controlled by Bill Gates!
Shouldn’t be long now!

boys3 · 09/05/2021 10:04

@NutellaEllaElla the NHS in England publishes vaccination numbers by five year age bands, at the moment with that five year split for those aged 45 and over.

It provides this at the overall level, but perhaps more importantly at local council level, and below that at middle super output area level.

It also provides population estimates, both ONS and NIMS (national immunisation management system) for all those geographic areas.

As such all the info is available to calculate percentage uptake at a whole range of age bands and geographic areas.

LemonTT · 09/05/2021 10:22

Well in terms of offered, the NHS goes to great lengths to ensure everyone is offered. It isn’t easy with some of the groups CEV, at risk and staff because they are not so easily identified or called. Efforts will still be ongoing with these groups.

Right now the NHS is confident as it can be that it has offered to all C1-9. That doesn’t mean they have stopped trying and you will still see marginal increases in uptake.

Cohort 10 is not yet complete but the government and NHS will open C11-12 to maintain demand and run rates till the end of June. Then the harder slog of getting in stragglers will kick in.

Bordois · 09/05/2021 11:03

Thanks, I'd not seen this page before! I found this graph particularly interesting- the difference in cases between age groups where most, some and hardly any have been vaccinated is quite telling!

The vaccines obviously not worth having then😉😂😂😂
Bordois · 09/05/2021 11:27

Lockdown imminent!

AlexandraEiffel · 09/05/2021 12:17

@Bordois I've been looking at it daily (trying to wean myself off a bit). It changes depending on what's going on, for example during the vaccine row with the EU it showed stockpiles, proportions they'd used of each vaccine etc, so really useful for understanding what's going on behind the headlines. The tracker of vaccines and projected hitting or targets was great when that was more current. And often fascinating data sets I would even think to look for.

Wigeon · 09/05/2021 15:26

Ah, so you specifically want the offered: accepted ratio? All in cohorts 1-9 have been offered (over 50s plus at risk groups). I’m not certain that all over 40s (cohort 10) have been offered yet.

Vaccine supply is also a factor in vaccine uptake - at the moment there is low 1st dose supply, so overall fewer appointments. It’s not entirely to do with individual patients.

NutellaEllaElla · 09/05/2021 15:50

Yes and I was curious what the offered to accepted ratio is like in other countries. I read somewhere within the last year that generally 70ish% of citizens in the UK accept vaccines, whereas only 40% in France and other places varied. I wondered if it is the same now but it's probably too early for other country data.

I think those percentages were the predicted take up numbers. They came from surveys. So far the UK take up has been way better than expected. However we are not done yet and the younger groups may be more hesitant. Plus lower case numbers and deaths mean people could feel less worried about the virus. I do think we will still have a higher overall take up than most countries though.
