You will need two, you should have been given a card and leaflet when you had first one.

Theodoreb · 08/05/2021 13:08

I've had both injections I have my card and leaflet I'm just wondering if I'll need a third but judging by you response my question is answered thank you.

All covid vaccines are going to require boosters at some point as I understand it - like the flu vacc does. None of them are a one or two and you're done for life.

Topseyt · 08/05/2021 13:30

Yes, you are likely to need a booster in the autumn/winter when the vaccines have been tweaked to allow for any new variants. It will be similar to the flu vaccine, which is adjusted and given yearly.

Are you in England?

You seem rather poorly informed, the answer might depend on where you are

It’s been reported that we will be ready to provide boosters to the over 50’s from September.... but not that it’s definitely going to happen.

We don’t know for certain that routine boosters are going to be necessary. They are still monitoring to see how long immunity lasts.

I have a lot of trust in the MHRA and JCVI. So, if a booster is recommended, I will take it. If it’s not, I won’t worry.

Since your first 2 doses were AZ, OP, you may be offered a different vaccine as a booster, should it be necessary. That’s because there is an immune response to the adenovirus vector used, which potentially means additional doses would not be effective - your immune system could destroy them before they are able to deliver their payload. I stress this is theoretical and research is ongoing.

Basically, there’s a lot about boosters which is still uncertain.

Thank you all I understand now, I am in Wales but have mental disabilities meaning I cannot look at news articles or research.

There is talk that for those of us who had both 2 doses of AZ , we may get a different booster in the autumn, which I would be happy to have.
