Quite unwell and supposed to be getting second vaccine tomorrow!

I came down with a nasty bug this week along with my youngest DD. We've tested negative for covid but I feel so so terrible today and I am supposed to be getting my second vaccine tomorrow.
Does anyone know if it is dangerous to get a vaccine when you're poorly with something else? Would it be a risky think to put it off any longer than it has been already (12 weeks) don't know what to do!

Take advice from 119. I doubt a few days' delay will make much odds

indecisivewoman81 · 07/05/2021 18:33

I don't think you should get it done. Can't you call anywhere and get it postponed by a week?

bungabungaboo · 07/05/2021 18:42

Re-schedule, give your body a chance to recover from this illness. Wink

Sadsiblingatsea · 07/05/2021 18:45

I wouldn’t take the risk

Puffthemagicdragongoestobed · 07/05/2021 18:45

Definitely reschedule. I had my second jab last Friday. Whilst I didn't come down with flu like symptoms as with the first one I have had a headache for the past seven days which has been unpleasant (got a blood test done and all was ok). So you wouldn't want to have the job feeling unwell in the first place.

Beebityboo · 07/05/2021 18:55

I have had a look online and it says it's safe to have if you have an unrelated bug but if you have had Covid there needs to be a four week window.

They will ask you if you are feeling fit and well, what sort of bug have you got.

chocoshopoholic · 07/05/2021 18:59

Please also think about if you're contagious, if you've needed a covid test for symptoms you don't want to knock a vaccinator out of action whilst they're ill and awaiting results.

Beebityboo · 07/05/2021 18:59

A head cold really, no cough or temp but sore throat and runny nose etc. Seems like there is differing guidance, some say not to get it if you are unwell, others say to still get it if it's only a minor illness without a temp.

oh bugger yes didn't even think about the contagious element of it. Guess I'll have to reschedule. Just really worried it's going to mess my covid immunity up :(

I have zero idea how to rearrange for tomorrow though. GP is closed now and there isn't a number on the card for me to call.

Could you try 119?
user34254356 · 07/05/2021 19:15

seems you caught what I have had just this Sunday! I had my first dose appointment this thursday and I cancelled it, don't want to be fighting two immune responses at the same time. I'd suggest rescheduling.

Yeah think there's definitely something going around. Lots of kids self isolating etc but getting negative covid tests. I'm just hoping I'll wake up feeling magically better tomorrow. If not i'll have to call 119 to try and sort it out.

I volunteered at a vaccine centre last weekend and a man came who had a cold, but none of the three main listed covid symptoms and a negative covid test. He told us when he arrived, and the decision got referred to the clinical team and they vaccinated him.

ittakes2 · 07/05/2021 19:22

I had my second vaccine today and they gave us a piece of paper that said don't have it if you have a high temperature but its OK to have it if you have a cold.

Anawi · 07/05/2021 19:36

I know it's different but with childhood vaccinations they say to postpone if the child has a fever but if they have a bit of a cold it's okay to go ahead. Similar I guess, but dependent on how you're feeling.

TheFuckThatIGave · 07/05/2021 21:02

Honestly I'd go ahead and have it. If you're already feeling shit then the effects of the vaccine aren't going to make much difference, and you're already at a 12 weeks gap. Tell them when you get there what your symptoms are (head cold) and that you've had a negative test. Sanitise heavily before you go in and keep your mask on at all times.

2boysand1princess · 07/05/2021 21:52

I’m in a similar situation. Awful head cold courtesy of DS. Had a mild fever, but that’s fine now. I’m having my second shot Monday. I did some research and it’s ok to have as long as you have a negative covid test and no fever
