Affecting periods?

Before I start I will say I'm not into conspiracys or anything like that. I was happy to get my vaccine until recently. I was just scrolling on my Facebook feed, saw a woman complaining about a heavy and bad period that had come early even though she's always been regular. Below in the comments someone asked if she had her vaccine of been around anyone that had eg. Family. She said she had. Then this other person had said alot of other women have been saying they have had heavier, more painful periods that have been very early or late.
So I did some googling and it turns out alot of women are reporting this side effect. Has this happened to anyone who's had the vaccine or been in close proximity of anyone who's had one.
I'm just concerned about the effects it could have on fertility as me and my partner have spoken about another child in the future.

I had the Moderna vaccine. Was on my period at the time and it lasted an extra 5 days with a couple of very heavy days. Totally unprecedented for me - am regular and consistent - so I am ascribing to the vaccine as no other variables in my life right now. Think there is a growing amount of data on this.

Not had my vaccine yet (mid 30s) but did get Corona in January. Period started 4 days later (first period after having a baby at the start of Nov 2020). It was so heavy and so painful, which is unlike my usual cycles and been extremely heavy ever since. Not only that my breastmilk dried up after Corona which I found devastating. I was mix feeding my baby up til then.

I don't know. To me a heavy period post vaccine really isn't the end of the world.

There are so many reports of disrupted cycles post-vaccine. I really hope there are studies into this. So often women’s concerns are dismissed. I have never missed a period (except when pregnant) and am very regular. I have not had a period since vaccine in March. I don’t mind skipping one, but I just hope the reports are taken seriously. We must all report any issues on the Yellow Card website.

I hate the way women's concerns are dismissed - it's so offensive. It's not stress or a coincidence, it's the vaccine. Women know their bodies.

I am 44, periods like clockwork, every month, bang on time for years.
Except this month. Had my vaccine last Friday and period has started a week early.
I know my body.
So please don’t tell me it’s just a coincidence or I’m reading things into it, being a silly little woman or that it’s because I just happened to have started peri menopause at the exact same time.
Bollocks.
I’m not worried, I just think it’s affected my system and I fully expect to be back to normal next month. The vaccine made me feel ill, but only for 24 hours, so it stands to reason that it will affect my system in other ways too.
Please try not to worry OP. I know it’s easy for me to say, because I’ve already had my kids, but this vaccine would not be given to women if there was any concern about an effect on fertility.

I had longer and heavier periods after both jabs - but I've not thought any grand conspiracy to it - I'm hitting "that age" and my cycle's gone a bit bonkers anyway.

Could be something in it... might not be - I don't know - as long as this bastard one gives it a rest soon.

My mum is post menopausal and began bleeding the day after her AZ vaccine.

There appears to be some evidence that having the vaccine yourself, if you are female, may impact upon your period. There is no evidence that being around other females who've had the vaccine will have any impact on you at all though.

MrsHastingslikethebattle · 13/05/2021 20:18

I usually have regular periods. Between 30-32 days. I'm nearly 3 weeks late after my AstraZeneca jab and have just started to spot.

CellophaneFlower · 14/05/2021 10:18

It's definitely a thing. I had moderna on Monday. Today I've just started my period a week early. I wasnt expecting it at all and was so shocked when I wiped (sorry tmi) that for a second I wasn't sure where it had come from 🙈 I NEVER start my period early and have had zero other symptoms from the jab, so it wasn't playing on my mind. However, this in no way means anything sinister is going on. Hormones are affected by all kinds of things I guess.

Happy to update if period is heavier or painful if anybody cares Grin I can't actually see how it could be any heavier than normal as I'll possibly need a blood transfusion in that case, and I don't get any pain generally really.
