Has anyone had their vaccine appointment chaperone jabbed at the same time ?

I've heard all sorts of rumours that people who accompany others to the appointment and have asked if they can have one, have been able to have one..

Just curious really, is that actually true and anyone's experience ? Was it at a big centre or via the GP ? Was it the 'original patients' first vaccine or second one ?

Thanks !

I went with DH when he got his first vaccine and the lady doing the jabbing offered me one too so I had it done at the same time. Age wise I still wouldn’t be close to getting it so I’m glad I went with him. She did say they end up throwing a lot a way at the end of the day so they do try and give anyone and everyone a jab if they’ll take it. This was at a vaccine centre not the GPs.

My mum did. She went with my brother who is CEV (she is his carer) and was given hers early. Mass vaccine centre. Was DB first dose and they both had their second at the same time.

Ok fair enough. Thanks for the info. Similar to what I have heard can happen.

I have volunteered at a vaccination centre as a steward checking people in upon arrival, I have done morning and afternoon shifts, but not the evening shift. People do ask and the answer we have to give is no, because they are managing the available vaccine numbers to the number of people expected, if everybody brought a plus one this wouldn’t work.

Only my DM. She went with my DDad to his appointment she is 2 years younger than him. They did her too. She got home and the doctors rang to offer her an appointment the next day. So she jumped the queue but only by a day.

I know a couple of people who did this.

I asked if DH could have one when I went to a vaccine centre (he's a police officer) and they said no. DH was just told to keep ringing his local surgery every day to see if they had any "spare". Impossible when he's at work 30 miles away and they never answer the phone. So he still isn't vaccinated but I am, even though I'm at significantly less risk than he is.

I went with my DH in February and asked, but they said I wasn’t in the right age group, otherwise I could have had it. I got it 2 weeks later.
