Anyone had Covid after first vaccine?

I had the first Astra back in March. Now on day 3 of a sore throat, headache, nausea, fatigue and sore stomach. Tickly cough that started last night and constant smell of burnt matches. I can’t get tested until tomorrow evening (don’t live in uk and apparently covid respects bank holidays here Hmm). My son’s nursery has been rife with covid recently so it’s possible he’s brought it home. Also still hoping it’s just a cold.

Just wondering if anyone has tested positive after first vaccine and how you got on? I had horrendous side effects after the vaccine so hoped it had worked well. Sigh.

Thanks for all replies and well wishes. I definitely don’t feel as bad as I did post-vaccine (then I was fluey with aches and shivers). Even private clinics aren’t testing here due to bank holiday so it’ll be a couple more days until I know for sure. I’m more worried about DH who hasn’t been vaccinated yet. He’s fine so far and DS is bouncing on the sofa like normal.

For the pp who asked, it’s mainly good old Kent variety covid here just now. The new variants haven’t really taken hold yet.

That 30% (or possibly 38%) reduction in transmission for Covid after AZ vaccine is of the small number of people who catch it anyway . The risk of catching it at all after one vaccine dose is reduced by about 76% (see www.astrazeneca.com/media-centre/press-releases/2021/covid-19-vaccine-astrazeneca-confirms-protection-against-severe-disease-hospitalisation-and-death-in-the-primary-analysis-of-phase-iii-trials.html) Then the recent data on transmission shows that even if you catch it anyway, you're less likely to pass it on if you're vaccinated (this is because you don't get it so badly so are less infectious to others)

However, for the OP the vaccine won't yet be protecting you as it takes a couple of weeks. You're possibly experiencing side effects from the vaccine itself, but if you have a temperature or cough, you should get a test to be sure.

DP got it a month after 1st vaccine. Was quite unwell eg. bad flu, stuck in bed for a couple of weeks but is fine now.

My dh got it 4 weeks after first AZ jab. Very mild, like a cold. His taste and smell went funny.

Friends mum got Covid more than 3 weeks after the first pfizer Jab, she was quite ill but not hospitalised.

Yep my cousin and her parents all had it after first vaccine. They weren't really ill with it though.

My friend has just had it after vaccination - first jab was in January (she's NHS), and she'd just had her second so no effect from that yet.

She's had a week of feeling really rough, like flu, but is much better now. Caught from her child at nursery. I must admit it's really shaken me, I had assumed you wouldn't get the flu-like illness after being vaccinated, just a mild cold or similar. She's does have some underlying conditions that may have made it worse without vaccination though.
