Were currently renovating our kitchen my parents are very handy at DIY and have been in helping most days to do this though I am married my husband works long hours 6-6 and sometimes away and with 2 young kids at home there would be no chance id get any of the work done nor would I have any idea how to do it. They've both had their vaccines and were doing lateral flow tests weekly but legally im braking the laws arnt i??? Is there anything as a builder bubble in a way?

Why on earth would anyone care at this point? They've been vaccinated, cases are v. low and falling. Please for the love of God just stop caring about 'allowed'.

If you're already doing it I don't see why there's any issue here. Most people I know are going in and out of other people's houses now.

They have been helping most days but now you want opinions that you may have broken the rules why ? Are you going to stop because of a mumsneter ?

BackforGood · 01/05/2021 23:01

If anyone cared enough at this stage, then surely you could argue it is allowed under the 'doing a job of work in someone's house'. Like your cleaner can come in or the chap to fix the boiler or whatever.

You can have professional builders in to work on your kitchen within the rules. Im not sure about unpaid help, but the risk is low if they have been vaccinated.

You can have childcare.
You can have builders.

It's time to crack on with living anyway.

Yeah you probably are breaking the law because they're not employed to do it. But if you really think anyone cares then you're wrong.
If its "safe" to have random strangers come and fit your kitchen, how is it "unsafe" to have family members do the same. Especially if they're vaccinated.
