Pfizer Vaccine

I am being really over anxious but I had the Pfizer vaccine yesterday. I have no side affects at all. Not even a sore arm which I was told I would have by the nurse. Does this mean it hasn't worked? I accept this question probably makes me sound stupid.

Most of my work colleagues had their sore arm a day later, you've still got time for it to develop.

partyatthepalace · 01/05/2021 09:58

It will have worked. We don’t know why some people have side effects and some don’t, with Covid or any other vaccine (so ignore anyone who tells you we do.)

I didn’t have any either Grin lucky us.

Mine kicked in 36 hours after. Apparently through the first Pfizer is fine, the second is worse.
I felt like shit after the fist so I'm dreading the second.

FlyingBurrito · 01/05/2021 10:02

We're nearing peak bonkers-ness now Smile where have you go the notion that not suffering side effects that affect the minority means a vaccine hasn't worked Confused

It's not 100% effective but this isn't related to a sore arm.

Sheeeeeeeeeeep · 01/05/2021 10:07

Yes I know it's bonkers.Grin

Because I could feel the stuff go into my arm and it ached immediately for all of 10 minutes but since then nothing. It made me paranoid.

In the trials some of those on placebo had side effects, and some of those who received vaccine had no side effects. It is not evidence of it working or not.

DoYouRememberTheInnMiranda · 01/05/2021 10:34

I was the same with my first, heard that the second would be much worse and ... My arm was slightly sorer, in that it felt like I'd been punched whereas for the first it was nothing. But that's it. hope it worked!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/05/2021 10:40

Side effects are not compulsory.
And very often are created by our brains and / or stress.

(Noone in my family had any - and Moderna.)

I had my 2nd Pfizer on Wednesday. I was also dreading it due to reports of much worse side effects but apart from a very slight headache (like one was starting/not bad enough for paracetamol) the next day I’ve been totally fine. Slight bruising at injection area which was tender (gone now). Back at the gym working to full capacity yesterday. Teen DS had the same. First jab we just had numb arms for a day. We’ve both had Covid before which apparently should have made it worse. So it’s not guaranteedWink.

I've had both doses of Pfizer - had a sore arm for 24 hours the next day and slightly swollen glands 5 days later but that was it, second dose I didn't have the sore arm but was unusually knackered.

Not everyone gets side effects but they told me at the appointments to keep an eye for 7-10 days so not always immediate either.

EvilOnion · 01/05/2021 10:43

@bunburyscucumbersandwich I was freaked out by that too but I had my second dose last month and other than the exhaustion for a day or two I was fine.

As an insomniac this was a welcome side effect though Grin

Loyaultemelie · 01/05/2021 12:32

I have loads of allergies and was dreading mine but I was fine remarkably, my arm was a tiny bit sore about 36 hours later but that was it

allshutdown · 01/05/2021 13:17

For me: First dose - almost nothing, second dose - like having flu for one day.

Apparently if you haven't had Covid before the immune response for the first dose of Pfizer is quite low, and the second one is essential. This is from the very latest research, published yesterday (definitely not conspiracy theory or unreliable).

But having had one dose is nevertheless in real life practice hugely beneficial despite this evidence.

I had my 2nd two days ago and even though I only had very mild side effects after the first (arm felt like someone had continually punched it and 6hrs of complete exhaustion 24hrs after), I had less from the 2nd. Yes my arm hurts, but the exhaustion only lasted a couple of hours.

Are you aware of the Yellow Card scheme on the government website for reporting any side effects? It will help them analyze the data once this experimental phase is over if you add it apparently :)
