Just to feel a bit calmer ? Or will it have a bad affect ?
I think I know the answer.. ask the doctor. Not strangers on the internet.

I don’t think it’d make a difference. Lots of conspiracy theories online about all sorts of meds affecting the vaccines but in reality most of the vulnerable are on some sort of meds and I haven’t heard of anyone being told to stop them before or after vaccine.

I would still ask the doctor anyway, not that the GP is going to know for certain either mind you.

Very good point !

Ask a pharmacist, OP. They will read the information leaflets for you and reassure you that it’s OK.

Just do some deep breathing and visualisation. Tranquillisers for a vaccination is a bit extreme isn't it?

PurplePumpkinDream · 30/04/2021 19:45

I have similar worries suffering from GAD, but I realise that the elderly and CEV would be on possible multiple medication and I didn’t read anything about them having to stop it for the jab. But yes the pharmacist would be the best person to ask.

debka · 30/04/2021 19:50

Yes you can. But I'd be asking why, and making sure you could consent to the vaccine.

I've just built it up a lot in my mind and at the first dose I struggled so much afterwards and couldn't breathe properly due to anxiety for a week or so after. I just want to nip it straight in the bud before it comes back..

Why do you think you need it?

Bit unfair. Could be a needle phobia or anxiety about leaving the house.

They say you should not drink alcohol around the time of the jab as it could make it less effective so I certainly wouldn’t take a drug like diazepam.

I would firstly talk through your worry with someone and then try breathing exercises to relax.
