Would you have the jab if you’re recovering from an illness?

I’m due my second jab tomorrow (Thursday) and I’m recovering from a chest infection.
I’ve finished the antibiotics but I’m still coughing away but I’m likely to be coughing for weeks.

I can’t find any guidance.
Would do you think? Would you go?

Anyone? Thank you

If you’ve finished the antibiotics and are feeling better with no infection symptoms I would give you your jab.
A persistent cough happens frequently so I wouldn’t worry about that.

Whilst I am feeling better, I’m not fully recovered yet. I have finished the antibiotics.

I personally wouldn't, I'd want to be in full health before having any vaccine.
I am no scientist but in my head I think that if I'm not 100% then my immune system is busy fighting whatever it is and I wouldn't like to interrupt that.
Someone clever will probably come along with the facts of why I'm wrong and I probably am but that's how I'd see it and I'd delay the vaccine until feeling better.

Get the jab - the last thing you want while recovering from a chest infection is covid (assume you had a covid test for the chest issue and it was -ve?).

Buzzinwithbez · 28/04/2021 20:49

Personally not. Someone I know had a life altering reaction that was explained as a virus attacking a nerve and not from the vaccine. However it may be that this virus would not have had the impact it did without the vaccination..who knows...
As far as I'm concerned I'd want to be in tip top condition as far as I knew and not make my immune system have to deal with the virus on top of an illness/existing infection.

The letter I got inviting me for mine said if you felt unwell you should still get it (unless it was Covid symptoms obv)

BluePi · 29/04/2021 11:53

It’s decision time! I need the leave in an hour.
Thank you for your comments and that sounds scary @Buzzinwithbez
So far you’ve voted 3/2 in favour that you’d get it done.
I think I’ll go along and ask them there?

I think they'll tell you to get it done regardless.
If you aren't 100% sure then delay it.
Good luck whatever you choose to do.

My daughter had her 2nd jab on Saturday. She has had shingles and only finished the tablets on Thursday. She had hers no problem. They will probably ask you when you go.

beguilingeyes · 29/04/2021 12:37

There will be a doctor and nurses on site to advise you.

Porcupineintherough · 29/04/2021 12:49

Yes. I caught COVID as I was recovering from a chest infection in March 2020 and it was not fun.

BluePi · 30/04/2021 11:32

Has my vaccination yesterday and so far I’m fine.
I spoke to the nurse and she just said unless you’ve got a fever you should go ahead.
Hopefully she’s right.
