Can a bubble meet another bubble?

You would think I knew by now the rules...but anyway!

My parents and I bubble as they need help (80s). So DC, parents and I are in a bubble. I presumed that meant we were classed as 1 family.

Can we now meet up at parents house with my DB and his son or is that still not allowed? I was resuming it was ok as it would be a bubbled family with another family. I have gone through the Gov site and cant find the answer.

Thanks!

Yes.

Cocksinsocks · 27/04/2021 12:32

It's right there in the rules 'You must not meet indoors with anybody you do not live with, unless you have formed a support bubble with them'

JensonsAcolyte · 27/04/2021 12:32

Yep. A bubble is treated the same as one household.

Seeline · 27/04/2021 12:35

You cannot meet indoors with your DB and his children because they are not part of your bubble. You can meet them outside though (assuming this is in England - no idea about elsewhere).

NannyR · 27/04/2021 12:35

You can meet outdoors as two households.

eurochick · 27/04/2021 12:37

Yes but only outside (if in England).

JustABloodyMinute · 27/04/2021 13:41

Only outdoors at the moment.

TheOneWithTheBigNose · 27/04/2021 13:43

Yes, outdoors.

Are people still bothering with this? Do your own risk assessment.

BubbleConfusion · 27/04/2021 13:58

Thank you. I know it has to be outside, but other family members were confusing me with saying it is 2 households and a bubble is technically 3. Which I suppose is true, technically.

I know I’ve completely missed the point, but I’m now singing “gin a bubble meet a bubble coming thro’ the rye”…

A bubble is considered one household, so you could meet up outside.

Exceptions (ie more than 6) in relation to outdoor gatherings

6.—(1) These are the exceptions relating only to outdoor gatherings.

Exception 1: two households or linked households

(2) Exception 1 is that all the people in the gathering are members of no more than two households.

(3) For these purposes two households which are linked households in relation to each other are to be treated as a single household.

This is assuming that your original bubble is legally permitted i.e. you do not live with anyone other than your children and your children were under 18 on 12 June 2020.

Yes, we are in a bubble with my parents as we had a child under one when that rule came in. We met up with our in-laws bubble over the weekend. We are two households as per the rules!

Or you have a baby under 1 or a disabled child under 5 or provide round the clock care for an adult. I'm sure I've missed some.
