Increasing platelet count with foods?

I’m not medical so I maybe barking up the wrong tree but I understand that low platelet count can the be the reason for rare blood clots are forming after the jab.A quick google implies that drinking a lot of water, eating foods rich in vitamin c and eating fatty fish can improve platelet count. Is this worth encouraging?

Lay off the booze

I don’t think so. Dad had leukaemia and nothing like that was ever suggested.

No. Food is not medicine.

No this isn't evidence based, and in addition, having lower platelet count isn't a risk factor for a CVST forming.

No. The low platelets are part of the reaction to the vaccine. The reaction isn’t caused by low platelets.

Seriously - wherever you read that stuff OP, don't ever visit those sites again!

Don’t you think the medical profession might be promoting this if it was a thing? Confused

Fishlegs · 25/04/2021 18:52

People who have developed this rare reaction previously had normal platelets, so diet makes no difference.

The reaction caused by the vaccine makes the platelets clump together, so there are less circulating in the blood to be counted, and these ‘clumps’ cause clots in various places (stomach, brain, lung).

Drinking lots of water, eating fish and food rich in vitamin C won’t harm you if you also have high platelets, low hemoglobin, high hemoglobin, high sugar, low iron, high iron, it will improve your level of cholesterol as well.
The only thing is that too much food rich in vitamin C could cause indigestion so be sensible.
