Had my vaccine yesterday morning. I have terrible knee pain and have a hospital appointment soon to figure out what it is (arthritis has been ruled out) I also got my period on vaccine day. Needless to say last night was awful trying to sleep! I’m getting random twinges everywhere and feel spaced out and spending the day reading about blood clot risks Sad I’m 40, BMI 31, I vape (don’t know if that’s a risk) and I’m just scared now
I also usually take amitriptyline but missed last nights dose because I’m worried about interactions. They don’t seem to know what the interactions are with different medications yet.
I think I’m working myself up into a panicky mess.

Stopping amitriptyline suddenly will cause withdrawal which is associated with those symptoms, what dose are you on? Generally best to speak to a doctor before suddenly coming off it, and taper off gradually!

Hope you feel better soon OP and call 111 if you're worried Flowers

As with all these threads- don't not take your regular meds when you're due for a vaccination unless your doctor has advised it

Realitea · 24/04/2021 17:02

I’m only on 10mg but really notice it if I miss one. I’ll take it as normal tonight. Thank you

I wish I hadn’t read certain things on here today about the AZ as I’m so worried about the blood clot risk now. I was convinced I’d get Pfizer and when it came to it I just thought ‘well I’m here now so I might aswell just take the AZ’ and instantly felt worried as soon as I had it.
I didn’t know the people most at risk were my age and female Sad

Hi try not to worry. I felt ill after the vaccine, woozy head and feeling sick, try to rest up it doesn’t last long. I know it’s easier said than done as I suffer with health anxiety but try to read a book to relax instead of the internet. The blood clot risk is really small. Take care x

Realitea · 24/04/2021 17:31

I’m the same @Hamilton1 - it’s not easy is it. But it’s reassuring to read your reply. I’m quite woozy and nauseous this afternoon and noticing every twinge
I’ve decided to work from home just to take my mind of things. At least I’ll be on top of things before Monday. Not the best weekend but still!

That’s exactly how I felt. Honestly after a good sleep tonight you will feel a lot better tomorrow !

hibeat · 24/04/2021 17:48

It was really bad for about 3 days, then it will all vanish, big hugs.

Kitcat122 · 24/04/2021 17:52

The risk is not necessarily higher for females because more women have had the jab which may twist the figures. I had it this week and am now very thankful.

Realitea · 24/04/2021 17:56

It’s funny I do have this worry about the vaccine but I also feel like a weight has been taken off my shoulders with the constant worry of Covid! I am very thankful too

My husband felt woozy and fluey and rubbish for two days after his AZ and has woken up this morning feeling absolutely fine.

Realitea · 24/04/2021 18:20

That’s promising! I am supposed to go to work tomorrow for a few hours and it’s annoying not knowing what I’ll be feeling like

I won’t tell you not to worry because I know it’s not something you can choose to do.

However, I would advise you to stop reading about it, since it’s obviously making you anxious.

Just be aware of what the telling signs are in case you need to go to hospital.

What I did was take it a day at a time. Day after day you’ll see that nothing is happening and before you know it, you’ll be out of danger.

Best of luck.

Can you phone your gp if you're concerned? I know here in Ireland, they've stopped giving the AZ to under 60s, they do say if you have concerns about any of the vaccines, to phone your gp or a GP that is on call.

Realitea · 24/04/2021 19:40

I'm not so concerned now @Lipz as the others have reassured me that what I'm feeling is normal side effects. I know what the signs are of a blood clot but I know the risk is tiny. The news about Ireland really worried me I'm just hoping the risk is so small I will be OK!

We all do an awful lot of things that carry a higher risk without even thinking about it. For example I do recreational scuba diving. I'd never investigated the actual risk of it as I knew it was very low - turns out to be 1 in 200,000 - which is higher than the risk of dying from the AZ jab

Horse-riding - 1 in 116,000 rides end fatally.

Conversely, we tend to fear very low risk things - think how many people are afraid of flying - accident rate of 1 in 125 million!!

GrumpyTerrier · 24/04/2021 20:38

I felt quite rough for 4 days and didn't feel totally myself for about 2 weeks. But now I'm absolutely fine. I am your age with similar BMI
