Question for dentists

My dd wants/need to do work experience at something dentistry-related for university application. Apparently individual dentists say this cannot take place due to Covid (although they don't say the BDA have set this rule).
Would it help to mention dd has been fully vaccinated (asthma)?
Obviously I know vaccination does not fully protect against transmission, but it is going to make a huge difference to transmission.

It's probably related to the fact that we're all still following operating protocols that require social distancing, respirator masks for aerosols that have to be fit tested and minimising the numbers in the surgery. Introducing another person into the environment who needs to be close enough to observe goes against all of that.
Does your dd have a deadline she has to have done this by? As if the protocols are eased this will get easier. Alternatively I wonder if she asked to observe via zoom or something similar, provided she found a way to ensure confidentiality and data protection might work.

We had this problem too - the universities are likely to be sympathetic. See what she can do online - there is some virtual experience around.

As an aside I'd get her to look into how Covid has impacted on Dentistry. The way Dentistry is operating in the UK is very changed currently and all the protocols have really affected access, especially NHS which always relied on high numbers being seen. If she's interviewed they may well want to see an awareness of this.

Thank you - useful advice. Moving forward access to NHS dentists is certainly going to be a problem, but maybe fewer people will care about their teeth, behind a mask...
