How are your local secondary schools doing now?

Just wondering how things are across the country. My local secondary, having escaped relatively unscathed so far, currently has approx 260 children at home isolating, after approx 15 cases. Still very much out there!

DD is in year 11, one of her year(the heads child) tested positive on a lateral flow test the night before school returned. The next morning 40 contacts were identified and sent home to isolate and have PCR tests.

It seems there was a lot of mixing during the holidays (according to dd most behind parents backs), Very embarrassing for the head who is having to isolate.

But PCR tests are only when you have symptoms?

Zero cases and only 30 cases throughout the whole pandemic across the 2 campuses with 3000 students.

We had an explosion of cases before Christmas, and now I haven't heard of any cases. Although the school doesn't tell everyone, they only tell you if your child has to self isolate.

In my area, if you are identified as a contact of someone who tests positive you have to isolate and have a PCR test. As per the info posted below.

Update - 11/03/2021
If you are identified as a close contact of someone else who has tested positive for coronavirus, you will be told by contact tracers to book a COVID-19 test as close to the start of your self-isolation period as possible. You will also need to have another test on day eight of your self-isolation period.

If both of these tests are negative, you will still need to complete the 10 day self-isolation period. This is because it can take up to 10 days or more for symptoms to develop, or for the virus to appear in your system.
