Will will be able to try on shoes when the shops open?

I need to buy new trainers for school. As I imagine they’ll be fairly expensive I’d quite like my child to try them on first and also for the sake of comfort and fit. We weren’t allowed to try on school shoes at the supermarket (I didn’t know this and child was just about to try one on when we got pounced upon and told off). Does anyone know what the rules will be on the 12th please?

I have an appointment at Clarks on Monday morning for my DS, who began walking during lockdown. So I'm assuming that means yes you can try on

We got told off in a supermarket, think it was during first lockdown when I didn't realise we couldn't try them on. Was very tempted to buy, try on in car park, take to customer services for refund and start again with the next pair to see who got annoyed first lol. I live too far away from supermarket to buy, take home, try on, take back and I always thought it must be more of a hazard taking them home to someone's house rather than try in shop and pop in a box if they want to be fussy and take them off shelf. In that case I ended up buying shoes in a place that could let us try them on. My daughter has weird feet and you can't assume the right size will fit. I'm still baffled by covid risks of someone with socks on putting on shoes and catching the virus.

I bloody hope so.

All I've bought new since first lockdown by way of clothes is some new socks and cheap knickers.

I refuse to piss about with this ridiculous notion that trying on clothes in the public loos, or at home, is more COVID secure than just trying them on in the shop. Nor do I have time to traipse home and back again.

I'm not even a "standard" size, so I have to try most things on to check if they'll fit.

They've sucked all the fun out of retail and frankly they don't deserve my custom until they pull their heads out of their arses.

But fucking hell I really do need some new bras Sad

Totally agree with this.

Only places that allow trying on are likely to get my custom. All of this quarantining malarkey is ridiculous bullshit and any store doing it deserves everything they get - such as no customers.

I needed some shoes rather urgently recently and the only place open selling any was Tesco. Yes, I tried on in there. Nobody even seemed to notice, I'm glad to say. I just saw a footstool nearby and sat on that to try the shoes.

I'd much rather try on in a shop and come away with just what I want.

I can confirm trainer buying was a success (as was birthday money frivolous cute shoe buying) and there were no issues trying on footwear. Hope everyone else has been lucky with their shopping!
