Will universities require students to be vaccinated?

I’m curious because this is happening in the US at a widespread scale (requiring vaccination by autumn term), but there’s been no mention of it here. Some are offering incentives such as exemption from mask mandates if you’ve been vaccinated.

There are rumours that DD's uni will be online in September, so they're hardly in a position to insist on vaccination. She's actually meant to be doing a year abroad and we suspect will be in the unfortunate position that she'll have had one vaccine here and who know that'll happen about a second dose.

@Roonerspismed thanks for posting this! The fact they're not even vaccinating the under 18s means they are apprehensive, I cannot understand people who are so keen to see very young students vaccinated. The elderly and vulnerable are protected, and wrt to variants they as likely to be the result of the vaccines as any other factors. Let the young and healthy be.

Forgot to mention, I read yesterday that there have been blood clotting issues with the Janssen vaccine, so I'm not sure we can count on that being at the front of the list for students either.

@Mumteedum

Well the wishy-washy VCs here won't do anything to put paying customers off... don't worry. Yes it would be unfair if vaccines aren't offered in time.
This! I imagine they'll be strongly encouraged to consider it, just like they were strongly urged not to break lockdown rules and to socially distance, but that's as far as it'll go.

Under 18s can have the Pfizer vaccine in the US - is that not the case in the UK? I'm in the US and we've opened up vaccines to everyone 16+. DD age 17 has had hers.

Looks like pretty much all universities are going to reopen fully in person here. It's probably easier here as schools/universities already require several other vaccines before you can attend, unless you have a medical reason for not having them, so Covid will just be added to the list.

Pfizer is licensed for 16 year olds. Plenty of 16 and 17 year olds I know (in groups 4 and 6) have had it now.

It isn't the vaccinated people most at risk of creating variants, it is the immunocompromised apparently. Which is why household members of those who are immunocompromised are now eligible for vaccination. new research.
