Still feeling off 2 weeks after vaccine?

Hi, just interested to know if anyone is still feeling some side effects a week or 2 after vaccine? I have some chronic health issues so it’s sometimes hard to know what is causing what, but I don’t feel like I have recovered yet? The first week I had some fairly acute reactions but week 2 is more like an exacerbation of existing problems and I’m hoping still temporary. Thanks

Posted on here before about this, however I have an auto immune disease and my condition flared for 5 weeks afterwards.
I honestly thought that was going to be how I felt forever, but I'm on week 6 now and feeling a whole lot better.
Fingers crossed for you.

Globetrotter123 · 10/04/2021 07:15

Thanks and glad you’re doing better now. I also have autoimmune issues though nothing specific. In tricky situation as I started on a trial of thyroid meds a few weeks before jab. Was seeing improvement but all gone since the jab and of course I know gp is not going to acknowledge that I could still be reacting to it! 🙄

My GP was dismissive too. Along the lines of 'you were told how the vaccine might affect you, now ride it out'

Dreading the second dose.
I have been advised to think carefully about having it, due to being bedridden for days after the first one, then being unable to walk for another 4 days. I will have it, but will have to go stay with my daughter this time, just incase.

I'm fit and healthy, a runner. Late 30s. Got AZ two weeks ago because my GP surgery have flown through the cohorts.

I have felt really tired since. Not enough to affect day to day life, but enough to be noticeable. I'm sleepy by 9pm which is not like me. I'm assuming it's my immune system at work, building that response.

Berlinbabylon66 · 10/04/2021 08:14

I was recovering from long covid, only been back at work 4 weeks. Had the jab and all the expected fluey symptoms a day later then after 10 days have had big relapse. HR shooting up pretty much like I did first few weeks.

Sorry to hear others are having similar experiences. I am 2 weeks in and palpitations and dizziness today plus increased pain compared to my norm😔. Dragging on....

No health issues here. Aged 45. Had it 12 days ago. Have been having a lot of palpitations in the evenings in the particular. They’ve improved over the last 2 days. Had a headache day 10. Pain behind my eye and forehead. It improved greatly day 11 but I feel it’s still there, like a can still feel it. But super mild. Just feel a bit peaky here and there. But I’m keeping a close eye on it.
Was worried day 10 with the headache. But feel less worried now.

Just riding it out really. But just being self aware

Im still having issues but I also suffered with the flu jab and thats why I never took one for years. However, Covid-19 is much more serious so I decided to have the vaccine. I don't remember the day after the vaccination as I was in my bed sleeping off all the side effects. My autoimmune system has gone into mega flare up and I guess Im not alone. 2 weeks later Im still suffering headaches for which I occasionally take paracetamol. I have suffered dreadfully with joint pain, leg aches and the fatigue is terrible. I'm falling asleep in front of the TV which just isn't me. Im fortunate that if I feel really rubbish, I can stay in bed and my other half will look after me. I tend to feel a bit better some days and worse others. My tinnutis has also been much worse, but that fluctuates. I am keeping a diary of my side effects, which I am then going to report to the Yellow Card Scheme. If you don't report them, things cannot improve. I am still going to accept my 2nd vaccination, in the hope that it may not be as bad, if it is, then I will just have to sleep it off again. It is wearing though.

I’m quite aghast at this I’m wondering how hard your body has to shout For you to listen and think actually A second dose might not be such a good idea.
Dowser · 10/04/2021 13:50

@Gothichouse40
I actually know of someone who has lost their hearing on the side they were vaccinated
The resulting tinnitus has caused their mh to nosedive and are now taking medical retirement.

Somebunnylovesyou22 · 10/04/2021 13:53

I’m over 3 weeks and still not right. Only way I can describe it is like someone has turned off a light inside me. I’m just tired, have brain fog, feel down and just not right. I just want to feel like I used to so hopefully this is temporary and passes soon. I have spoken to a lot of other people who feel like me too.

whatisforteamum · 10/04/2021 15:23

Just done 3 weeks since.I had symptoms for a week then ok.just over day16 then exhaustion shivering queasy loss of appetite again .
D's said some workmates felt off colour this week I just felt like I did after my jab.

Boph · 10/04/2021 15:29

I didn't think I'd had any reaction at all but my auto immune flared a few days after first jab and took about 6 weeks to calm down. Could be complete coincidence. All ok now and even if it happens again it will be worth it to be protected.

Chailatteplease · 10/04/2021 15:41

I’m pretty sure it triggered my autoimmune thyroid condition too. Was ok after a couple of weeks though. Hope the second isn’t as bad.

Timeouttime · 10/04/2021 15:54

I'm on day 10. Had crazy heart palpitations until day 8 when 111 sent me to A&E to get checked over... Was told all was fine.. palpitations have reduced but now feel this horrible sense of anxiety and panic all the time I really hope it passes soon it's horrible. I'm also really shattered all the time and feel like when I rush up the stairs I have to take time to recover. It also gave me a crazy long heavy period (9 days).... I'm 43 btw and massively pro vaccine.

HSHorror · 10/04/2021 16:25

Your body making antibodies may be using up vitamins too.

Could you be low on iron or b12?

I wonder this too.

Terracotta9 · 10/04/2021 18:56

I agree. I question if being unable to walk for 4 days is an acceptable side effect if someone otherwise has a low demographic risk of complications/death from covid.

Furrybutts · 10/04/2021 22:22

Just come back to this thread, and saw the comments about my post.

I think you are all correct. I won't be having the second dose. I hadn't really thought of it that way.

I'm not low risk of dying from Covid if I were to catch though unfortunately. I'm in my 50s, in poor health and very overweight.

baroqueandblue · 11/04/2021 01:16

I'm 10 days in from first dose and have been fluey, tired and depressed, but the worst bit is my breathing - very shallow much of the time, and some hyperventilating. Am in two minds about whether to go to A&E tomorrow to get checked over. Have never had a positive test but firmly believe I've got long COVID. Chronic health issues to begin with, but this past year has been a whole other level. (54 and male, just so you know it hasn't affected my time of the month!)

Gothichouse40 · 11/04/2021 02:24

Baroque- please do get checked. I'm asthmatic but fortunately being vaccinated didn't affect my breathing.

Happyd · 11/04/2021 02:38

@baroqueandblue your not the only one... I had a bad cough last March it lasted for months... had the AZ vaccine 19 days again .. I'm now really breathless .. am thinking of giving the next does a miss

Happyd · 11/04/2021 02:39

Ago not again

Globetrotter123 · 13/04/2021 11:02

Furrybutts - I am still dealing with a massive exacerbation of normal symptoms 2.5weeks on. At this point I am not at all sure I will have my 2nd AZ. I would discuss options for an alternative with your gp (not sure when trials finish on this)?

Juliettbravo · 13/04/2021 11:17

It's really weird because I felt like I'd got covid all over again. My chest felt the same, cold and shivery plus an odd sense of anxiety which I had with covid. I ended up in A/E because of palpitations. All fine but they felt it was an immune response to the jab causing a relapse of long covid.
