Periods / miscarriages after vaccine

Please hear me out before I get called an anti vaxer.

I am just hesitant after reading about period/pregnancy side effects.

I am 23 and I have had covid, I know I wont be offered a vaccien for a while.

I looked at the yellow card reports after seeing multiple women talk about delayed periods etc.

I have had gynae issues over the past year. I also had covid and was not seriously ill. So thsi makes me even more hesitant to get the vaccine.

Miscarriages (spontaneous abortions) and still births have also been reported.

No causal link has been made though. (However, I doubt it will be fully investigated as it is a womens health problem)

I have attached the Astra zenenca and pfizer yellow card reporting, I just screenshotted the bits about periods and misscariages. These are from the gov website

www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-reactions

Does anyone else find this really concerning? And these are just the ones that were reported. Does this happen with other vaccines too?

I also don't plan to have another child for a few years, so covid will be low in circulation by then I assume.

Anyway I think I have decided to delay vaccination as long as possible due to these reporting. I have had covid recently and I would rather not take my chances.

No, I don’t think it’s concerning. There’s no biological reason as to why the vaccines would affect fertility.

Furthermore, 23 women in the Pfizer trial went on to get pregnant and I’ve seen lots of people that have had their 1st dose fall pregnant and query whether they should have the 2nd dose.

I wouldn’t have AZ if TTC or pregnant due to the clotting issues but I’d have Pfizer.

I’m in my 40s and ttc so no way am I having this vaccination . I’m very healthy and look after myself plus had suspected Covid a year ago so will take my chances for now

Useruseruserusee · 09/04/2021 08:36

I’ve had one dose of AZ and it had no impact on my cycle at all, my period came two weeks later right on time. There is no biological reason why it would affect fertility.

MsJuniper · 09/04/2021 09:22

I had AZ and my period was very late but I didn't connect the two things until I saw it mentioned on MN.

I know some people are saying a couple of hundred reports isn't many but how many others just haven't thought/known to report?

I am very pro vaccine but it is really important that women's health is considered. The blood clot issue has affected predominantly women and it does seem possible that there could be a connection.

YawnyOwl · 09/04/2021 09:26

I wouldn't get it for these reasons
Doesn't seem worth the risk, I'd rather get covid if it had to come to it

Witchesbelazy · 09/04/2021 10:25

I’d urge anyone not to get the AZ if ttc. Still not got my period after having mine a good while ago.
It’s not worth the risk

LizzieMacQueen · 09/04/2021 10:32

@Tryingtryingandtrying

Surely if it can impact on blood, and cause blood clots it can impact on the menstrual cycle?

Yes, and asked before but do we know if those badly affected (sadly died) were those women on oral contraception?

Daisydoor12 · 09/04/2021 10:32

Those saying no reason the vaccine should affect periods/fertility are the same people saying only a couple weeks ago blood clots weren’t connected!

I am 38 and had Covid back in July 21 even though had had the vaccine in June 21. I recently got pregnant of my second baby and unfortunately had a miscarriage. Not sure if it's related at all, but it does make me think whether Covid or the vaccine had anything to do with it. I did find a video supposedly by the creator of MRNA saying that this technology generates a spike of protein in the uterus which could being side effects, but the video was deleted and not even sure if it's fake or not.

I know it’s old post but Iam in the same boat as you.

How is your TTC journey after miscarriage going?Just had my second cycle and TTC

Fallagain · 28/10/2021 16:44

Without statical comparisons with the number of births is means nothing. In the UK 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage. Which means in 2017 before covid there would have been over 250,000 miscarriages.
