28 and had the Oxford jab..

Hey all.

I’m in a complete panic. A few weeks ago I had the Oxford jab through work. I’m 28 and no underlying conditions.

I’ve just seen on the MailOnline that regulators will consider tomorrow wether or not to stop the jab for under 30s...

At the point I’m almost besides myself with worry. I suffer with health anxiety enough as it is and this situation has really rocked the boat.

I had the jab on the 17th of March (I’m hoping if anything bad was to happen it would of happened by now)

But this is really awful and I can’t quite believe this is happening.

Anyone else under 30 worried? Or should I be worried?

I’m sure there’s a thread on this so I apologise but I’m really scared.

@Circumlocutious thank you so much for the reassurance. It’s so appreciated

Indeed

Scaremongering.

In the kindest way, what might you do, going forwards, to stop yourself getting reeled in again?

DM & the express love to frighten people & never let the truth get in the way of a good story/
Among other things dh actually has chronic ITP (long lasting & HE DIDN'T know he had this until he was tested for a major operation).

Yep he is elderly (he would hate me saying that) & he had Oxford vaccines & is looking forward to getting the second one.
ITP is an autoimmune condition - I gather it usually occurs after an infection in the past - the adult onset form occurs more frequently in females (dh was an outlier -there is a rare acute form in children). Some of the deaths may well have had this condition for years, or it could have been caused been made worse by them having asymptomatic covid -which does cause clotting throughout the body . The point is, that it is a very rare condition which occurs naturally in other ways than by this vaccination & that the combination of clots & low platelets may have been coincidental- we don't even know what the other health conditions. exact age, whether these (mostly)women were on any form of pill or hormone replacement, or even if they were vegetarian or had high cholesterol or even racial group (& yes this might be an issue) .
The number of people (sadly) affected was so few when compared to the millions that have had the vaccine & it is as likely to be something completely independent of the vaccine that caused this - & the thousands who have died or who have long lasting serious life changing illnesses& disabilities.
Op best advice -talk to your doctor, & know your body
DH will be having his vaccine & by the way he has daily asprin prescribe as a blood thinner for another condition -
Please don't worry (& asprins can cause side effects!)

I understand how you feel. And this IS a shit situation to be in (don’t let them dismiss it all as anxiety). I’m in the same boat but only 10 days on from vaccine. At your stage I think you’re fine. They say 20 days from jab you’re out the danger zone (and probably mostly out by 14). I personally need a lot more information before I’ll take a second jab (if I’m even allowed it depending on what they decide). I know the risk is thought to be extremely small but it’s still a horrible position to be in and I totally empathise with you.

LibbyL92 · 05/04/2021 22:57

@Boringlynormal thank you. It’s definitely got me thinking (anxiety pushed aside) if they decide against using it, where would that leave us? Would we be contacted ect. No doubt everyone under 30 who’s had the jab would be worried, and rightly so.
As I said previously, it’s thought provoking!
I’m keen for more clarity and information for sure. (Whilst trying not to panic too much)

@mumwon thank you for the detailed reply! I really don’t have the slightest clue on any data ect. I just saw the alarming headline and jumped straight into panic mode (bad habit) so it’s interesting to read your post and be more reassured!

By the by
When dh went for his vaccine I typed out all(!!!) his conditions & medications as he has a smorgasbord of both & his hearing is naff & imagine trying to remember this when asked (he moaned that it wasn't necessary -tough! & yes it was ,it made it much easier for them to type out the details)
I think if anyone has multiple health issues its a good idea

Surprising he is quite healthy!
He had NO side effects

Happymum12345 · 05/04/2021 23:15

I’d just be grateful I’d had the jab! Lucky you. You’ll be fine. Don’t worry.

moochingtothepub · 05/04/2021 23:17

My dd and dp's dd have both had it more than 3 weeks ago, they are fine. They are clinically vulnerable
