Allergy to Oxford vaccine

My adult DD had an allergic reaction to the first Oxford vaccine and was taken to hospital for several hours for observation. She is generally allergic to irritants such as pollen, dust etc, but nothing like this before ie no allergy to medical vaccine. She is worried that she won't be able to have the second vaccine.

Please can any body advise if they have had a similar reaction and if they have had any advice about having the second vaccine. Also, please can anybody recommend any general allergy experts, who could do tests to see what foods and substances DD is potentially at risk from?

Thank you!

Did she have an anaphylactic reaction? If so her GP will refer her to allergy clinic/immunology for follow up. This should include testing. Her GP should also seek advice from the local covid immunology lead about second dose.

What was her reaction? Anaphylactic? Hives? I am allergic to pollen, dust etc, plus some foods (which is more dangerous). I was told I was better off having AZ than Pfizer as no-one has had an anaphylactic reaction to the AZ vaccine. I had the AZ and was fine, apart from a hard, hot lump where I was vaccinated (which has happened with vaccines before). I took some Piriton and it’s much better.

Interestingly, as the vaccines have been rolled out, it has become apparent that the rates of anaphylaxis are roughly the same for both vaccines, there's certainly no significant difference according to MHRA/yellow card reporting data.

The key thing is whether you are or might be allergic to any of the ingredients, and this seems more likely with previous medicines allergies than food allergies (generally, because allergies are bastards and have a tendency to appear out of nowhere!).

Thank you very much for your advice. It is difficult as it's all so unpredictable.
