Was this Covid or No-vid?

Feel free to jump on this with your own "not sure" symptoms.

3 weeks ago I had a sudden onset headache, stomach ache and fatigue. I had to leave work early, went to bed and slept for 2 hours and woke up feeling fine. I had a low level headache for about 10 days after, which is very unusual for me. Considered it could be covid but no real covid symptoms and by the time I thought it, 10 days had gone by anyway so didn't get a test.

Around the same time, my kids had snotty noses and youngest had a mild temperature for one night.

A week after my headache episode, my Dad (support bubble) had a bad cold, runny nose etc and some gastro symptoms. He later developed a cough and I said he should get tested but he didn't as it was just a cold.

My husband (vaccinated), mum and brother didn't have any symptoms.

No one can say, you didn't test so who knows. But gastric symptoms and headache/fatigue are on the list of testable symptoms in many countries in Europe and also in the US..

ChocOrange1 · 05/04/2021 09:50

Thats interesting, I didn't realise that. If I had had a temperature, cough etc I would have got a test.
A bit annoying that my dad didn't when he had a cough.

Why did you not get a test? No one will ever know fgs.

rainbowthoughts · 05/04/2021 09:59

It could have been covid. Equally it could not have been covid.

How can we know?

Purplewithred · 05/04/2021 10:01

You're only supposed to qualify for a test if you have cough, fever or loss of taste/smell. OP wouldn't qualify for a test - she'd have to lie about her symptoms.

I am convinced there are loads of people who've had mild covid with symptoms that wouldn't qualify them for a test and that wouldn't be picked up in a lateral flow test.

islockdownoveryet · 05/04/2021 10:01

Omg why didn’t any of you test ?
12 months on and you still don’t know that a cough / temperature is a symptom. Is this for real?
Why has it only just occurred to you now ?

Her dc had a temperature her dad had a cough. Yes the ops symptoms weren’t the usual Covid symptoms so couldn’t get a pcr test . The lateral test will pick it up regardless of symptoms. It’s absolutely not true that lateral tests won’t pick Covid up .

Because I didn't have any of the symptoms required by the government to get tested.

I didn't have a cough or temperature. My dad had a cough and I advised him to get a test but he didn't. Which isn't my fault... none of my family had coughs

A few weeks ago, DH had a temperature and felt a bit 'off'. So did I. I put my symptoms down to hormones (I often feel like that just before period is due). DH told work and went to have a test. It was negative.

But it did make me think... How many women have had symptoms dismissed easily as hormonal, but might have potentially had something else?

ChocOrange1 · 05/04/2021 10:16

@Aroundtheworldin80moves yes I'm sure a lot, especially if other countries advise to test for a headache then surely most women would have to test monthly!

It’s a bit of a pointless thread op , no one will ever know on here because nobody took a test .
There are colds going around hopefully it was just that .

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 05/04/2021 10:16

Your kids had a temperature....

Your kids had a temperature....
One of them had a mildly raised temperature for one night. Not high temperature/ fever. She's 11 months.

Oh I know i was just chatting/ wondering. Thought other people might also have random symptoms they didn't think to test for and were wondering too.

"One of them had a mildly raised temperature for one night."

Should've got a test. Then you'd know. Or if you decide it's "mild" does that mean you can now get away with "doing your own risk assessment".

How do your mum and brother feature? Surely you haven't seen them so you couldn't have passed it on there.

denverRegina · 05/04/2021 10:29

"especially if other countries advise to test for a headache then surely most women would have to test monthly!"

What? I haven't had a headache for over a year. I get a cough more often than a headache generally

Isolatedizzy · 05/04/2021 10:32

I'm been logging with COVID Zoe app everyday since last summer, anything like tiredness or fatigue or anything really it recommends you get a test and you book it under the category of taking part in a trial etc.
It was through this App that they discovered the symptoms of loss of taste & smell.

ThriceAsNaice · 05/04/2021 10:36

No use to the OP now but I would encourage everyone to check their local councils public health dept recommendations. Ours now advises that you should get a proper PCR test for a much wider set of symptoms including headaches, gastro, sore throats etc. The national test booking system now reflects this as there is an option to select 'requested to get a test by local council'.

NHS website says high temperature, feeling hot on chest or back, not mild forehead temp.

Dad, mum and brother all live in the same house and are our support bubble due to having a baby under 1.

It could have been.

But just came in to say I'm loving the "no vid"

I'd be at the test centre all the time. I get a persistent hormonal headache, I cough with hay fever and I often have an upset stomach as I never recovered fully from having my gallbladder out!
ShowOfHands · 05/04/2021 11:19

My dd had a v mild temp which was gone after an hour as well as cold symptoms. We got her a test. She had Covid.

My DS had a v sore throat and lethargy. He had Covid.

Their friend had a low level headache. He had Covid.

No coughs.

Nobody can answer your question. You should have tested a child with a fever.

denverRegina · 05/04/2021 11:31

"NHS website says high temperature, feeling hot on chest or back, not mild forehead temp."

So your kid didn't have a temperature then? Or it did, enough for you to register it and remember even though it took you 10 days to consider covid as a possibility?

Yet you're annoyed with your dad? Ok
