Tiredness and body aches 8 days after Astra Zeneca jab

I had my jab AZ last Monday, was fine until Tuesday morning when I started having body aches and feeling generally unwell and I have been feeling like that since. Everyone I talk to was quite unwell for a couple of days and then fine! What I had was mild, no temperature, shaking or headaches, but I just don’t seem to be able to shake this tiredness and achey feeling. I just wonder if someone had something similar and how long it lasted.

I did get a leaflet, it said symptoms might last up to a week, mine went over that. When I asked my GP about it, during a call related to something else, she said she had been receiving many calls like mine, apparently side effects can last up to two weeks, if I had known that I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

How would this put anyone off having the vaccine?? Still preferable to Covid that's for sure!
I think it's very obvious the symptoms described here would put people off the vaccine. It would put me off for sure. I've had Covid and it was nowhere near as bad as the symptoms you and others describe. Loss of taste for couple of days, a bit tired for a couple of days and that was it. I'm just going to stop reading these threads as I don't think they're representative at all and just feel like scaremongering

BIWI · 01/04/2021 13:00

Side effects (which you may not have anyway) or Covd-19?

I know which I'd choose any day.

The vaccine providers can't have been more clear about the fact that some people might experience side effects, and that for some people they may be more than mild. So threads like this really don't help
and do undermine faith in the whole vaccination programme.

Brainfogisreal · 01/04/2021 13:10

and more importantly, you can pass it on to someone else and they could die from it, you can't do that with the vaccine!

Yes you can. Why do people keep saying this. The vaccine does not Stop you passing on the virus OP, just reduces the length of time you're infectious thereby reducing your chances of infecting someone.

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 01/04/2021 13:22

The bonus for me was after six days of feeling a bit more tired than usual, on the 7 day I woke up feeling incredibly well and energetic! I felt like my immune system and won- so it’s not all bad.
I had high temp the day after vaccine but better after a good sleep. I had a slightly sore when poked lump on the injection site for about a week.
DH had no side effects other than feeling a bit tired the day after. DS who was officially allowed the vaccine early had no side effects.
I do feel so much safer now having had the vaccine and less anxious - so please don’t let people put you off. You may not even have any side effects

BigButtons · 01/04/2021 13:27

My side effects were so awful that I will be talking with my gp ( well I'll try- not holding out much hope) before i go for the booster.

If you read what I wrote I said I had mild symptoms without temperature, shakes etc, but I was wondering why they were lasting so long. There was never a doubt in my mind if I should or should not get the vaccine because I want to see my family and go back to my old life. What there is to gain from having the vaccine in my opinion is much greater that any side effects, this doesn't mean we can't talk about them! It's like having a really bad pregnancy or delivery and feeling unable to talk about it because it would put people off having a child. And the pain of labour beats any vaccination's symptoms I heard about so far!

It's a very new drug though. I think it's important that people talk about side effects as much about this drug is unknown and it's still being trialed really.

@XiCi

I hate these threads So do I, I really wish they'd stop. I'm due my vaccine next week and it makes me feel like not going ahead with it tbh. Ive had Covid. Just lost my sense of smell for a couple of days and felt a bit tired. Ive never experienced such extreme symptoms as described here my whole life!
Same here. I'm 30 and I've had covid, so I think do I really need this year's jab? Maybe next year when it's a different strain, sure, but not now while people aren't getting it twice! The horror stories of symptoms sound worse than I actually felt when I had the virus itself!

so people shouldn't document actual side effects from the vaccine incase it goes against this bizarre obsession the totalitarian state has of vaccinating everyone and may put younger people off allowing them to make decisions based on their health and their risk to covid vs vaccination side effects? Interesting .

It doesn't matter what you choose does it, we all make our own decisions with the vaccine or do you claim to speak for everyone?

BIWI · 01/04/2021 17:11

Don't be silly and obtuse.

These side effects are very well documented already, so everyone should be fully aware what they are. Then they can make their choice.

But equally, threads like these do put people off.

It is, however, (and thankfully), a free country and it's up to individuals to decide if they want the vaccine. Just make that decision based on fact and not drama.

It clearly isn't a free country is it because anyone putting side effects up or lord forbid states they don't want the vaccine is labelled " an anti vax troll " with implications they are the embodiment of satan. It's precisely this type of attitude driving the slow shift to a totalitarian state where we are slowly day by day giving up individual rights where domestic vaccine passports make the vaccine mandatory in all but name.. utterly disgusting and a far greater crime than deaths from covid where people have to submit to medical treatment they don't want
Keepyourdistance000 · 01/04/2021 17:36

I've got my first jab next week and because of threads like this am extremely worried.

My DB also texted me recently to think very carefully about having the vaccine as his wife (SIL) was extremely ill after hers.

Sakesman · 01/04/2021 17:50

I’ve had covid. Vaccine last Thursday. Fluish for a day. Sore legs a day and hot and swollen arm. Only calming down now. 😏

relaxingforme · 01/04/2021 17:50

@MaxRiemelt

I hate these threads. Just because you feel unwell does not mean it is the vaccine. Hypochondria.
Hate these threads but go on it to reply with a ignorant response 😂 Op as long as it is what is described as the normal reactions then you will pull through it. I wonder if they recommend pain relief along with it? DearMax A vast array of medications can give many side affects as we all know Dear.
Sakesman · 01/04/2021 17:51

Also I stayed off this site before I got it so I didn’t read the side effects as I knew I still “wanted/ felt forced” to get it

Somebunnylovesyou22 · 01/04/2021 18:12

I had my vaccine about 12 days ago and still feeling exhausted. The side effects I had were absolutely awful and not expected at all. Thought I might feel a bit unwell but I couldn’t walk, was shaking for hours the first night after having it. High temperature for days and aching joints and limbs. Also had weird stabbing pains all down my back. Will take my second dose but after that wouldn’t take anything else or a different vaccine for other variants. I went to have it totally confident I would be fine and ended up so unwell and just hope this tiredness shifts soon as it’s affecting my day to day life.

Obakarama · 01/04/2021 18:20

It is important to talk about this stuff. I am still periodically dizzy a week later and I come on here to see if others have the same side effect and what they are doing about it. I also think we need to be honest. People can't necessarily have the vaccine in a lunch break and then go back to work right away or the next day, as they may have to spend time recovering. Important that people know that.

SophieB100 · 01/04/2021 20:18

Nobody was more excited to be getting the vaccine than I was, and I don't regret it, not for an instance, and I'll be getting my second one. For posters to come onto a thread which clearly states in its title its purpose, and tell people not to post about side effects is disingenuous.

My side effects were real, unpleasant and for a while quite unsettling. That's a fact. And lots of other people had similar, to a greater or lesser degree. We can discuss how we felt, because hopefully we can support each other, and most importantly reassure each other that the side effects pass.

BIWI · 01/04/2021 20:42

I didn't say any of that

There's nothing about a shift to a totalitarian state or giving up your rights.

Stop being such a drama llama and reading unnecessary things into other people's posts,

This happened to me too. I had electric shock type pains which caused me to convulse. I wasn’t able to walk and had to be helped to the toilet. I did the yellow card thing as convulsion were not listed as a side effect. I was also itching all over my torso and head for a day.
