"six people from up to two households can meet outdoors" on radio two just now
What hope do the general population have

I thought that was the rule from 29th?

hellsbells99 · 28/03/2021 13:08

It is 6 people or 2 households

UCOinaUCG · 28/03/2021 13:09

That's the rule from tomorrow is it not? I assume they were just going over what was happening after today.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 28/03/2021 13:10

6 people from anywhere

or

Unlimited numbers from 2 households

Not really hard to type!

Circumlocutious · 28/03/2021 13:24

If there was a mandatory national exam on the new rules (and I wouldn’t put it past this government) the BBC would be the first to fail it.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 28/03/2021 13:26

That’s right isn’t it. Or did it sound like 12 can meet?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/03/2021 13:26

6 people OR 2 households.

So it could be 6 people from 6 different households. Or 10 people from 2 different households.

emmathedilemma · 28/03/2021 13:29

The BBC also have a habit of talking about the English rules and Scotland / Wales / Northern Ireland might get a mention as an after thought, it's no wonder people are confused!

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2021 14:08

Yes exactly. I think it was just a lazy way of describing the new rules, but presumably they should get this right

Tbf, even Broris seems to have said earlier in the week that in ‘just a few days’ he’ll be getting his haircut and going for a pint.

I don’t think we’ve got a hope in hell of people understanding what’s going on.

IDSNeighbour · 28/03/2021 15:45

Not helpful, BBC (although i supposevits better to get in wrog in the too strictdirection rather than the other way.)

I thought I was pretty good at knowing the rules and have never really got the confusion but I've messed them up this time. I told my grandparents I'd go and visit them in their garden next week. They live a 2 hour drive away. Told a friend this morning I was excited about seeing them and the told me the stay local rule is still in place. I thought the lifting of the stay at home thing meant go where you like. I mean, I'll probably still go because I've told them now and they'll be upset. But I feel really bad.

Maybe the government now has a system where it makes a law, then makes the guidance more stringent than the law and then gets the BBC to be even more stringent than that.

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2021 19:11

Maybe :) this stuff really irritates me!

I heard '6 people or two households' on radio 4 earlier today.

So maybe it's not 'the BBC' as such getting it wrong in this instance?

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2021 19:23

No and I suspect its right on the website too
