Essential travel. Train. Safest time of day to go

I have to make an essential journey into London this week. Long distance train. I know the risk is still low but my anxiety is getting the better of me. I'm clinically vulnerable and only just had the vaccine. I was told it won't work immediately.

Does anyone have advice on when's best to travel. I'd like morning to get it over with but wonder if less people around later in the day or evening? I'll have a lift from the London station so can arrive anytime.

It depends on the line.

Is it a commuter route? I suppose avoiding rush hours and school times, so travel at about 12-1? And return after 8pm.

If it's a 3 hour journey or thereabouts, a train at 11am would comfortably miss both morning and evening rush hour. Depending on budget you could perhaps book a first class ticket which might get you an emptier carriage.

Not sure where you're travelling from but my DH commutes into London in normal times from Bucks. He had to go in about 3 weeks ago at usual time, i.e morning rush hour. He said it was empty compared to normal. So I would imagine it will be fine whenever you travel.

If you're really nervous, though, you could always call the train operator and ask?
