Can I travel from UK to USA to visit dying father?

I’ve googled this but my head’s in a whirl and I can’t find a straight answer. I plan to ring the Embassy tomorrow, but does anyone know what the current situation is with regards to flying to the US to see a terminally ill parent? I’ve heard today that my dad has liver cancer and it doesn’t look good. He lives alone in California with no other family or support. I’m just wanting to be prepared in case I need to go at short notice (tho I know I will have to quarantine). Is there an exemption to the rules for this does anyone know? Thanks

Yes travel is permitted for these purposes by U.K. but you will need to check with the US side of things

Yes you can for that reason, but you’ll need to quarantine for 10 days when you get back to the UK and pay for three tests.

I am almost certain that apart from a very few exceptions UK citizens cannot enter the USA at present.

www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/usa/entry-requirements

Since 16 March 2020, it is not possible for many British nationals to enter the USA if they have been in the UK, Ireland, Schengen zone, Iran, Brazil, or China within the previous 14 days. As of 30 January 2021, South Africa will be included in this list.

No I’m not
Assuming that you are a UK citizen who is currently in the UK then it seems that the answer is no.

However, speaking to the Embassy in light of your circumstances is still your best bet.
