My dad (85) had the Pfizer vaccination back in Jan. This was just before they automatically booked you in for your second jab. At the time they told him that they would contact him regarding the 2nd jab. Well. in a week it is 12 weeks since his first vax. He called up a week ago and they said they'd contact him. Well, there is one week to go till the 12 weeks.

WWYD?

Similar situation although I'm a week behind your df.
It will be 11weeks next week since I had my jab and due to work commitments I really need to know when my appointment will be.
I called my GP and was told that they couldn't offer me an appointment and I had to just wait.
Makes no sense to me.

Have you tried to book online?

I'll be calling again next week.
Sorry, I've no answer.

Cookerhood · 20/03/2021 11:38

I would call 119.

They haven't given us much indication of what happens if the second vaccination is late. Does it mean the antibodies from the first injection wear off too much for the second to be effective?

Problem is, it has to be the Pfizer vaccination.

If you try to book online there'll surely be a record of which vaccination he had, and therefore which one he'll need for the second dose? I cancelled my second booking because initially I could only get an appointment 30 miles away, which would have involved four long bus journeys there and back. Appointments came up at my local vaccination centre so I rebooked there no problem. I assumed they'd know which vaccine I've already had.

Many vaccination centres will ONLY have the AZ vaccine.

No - going beyond 12 weeks isn't the end of the world - there's a risk that it could leave you with a period of lower protection. The main thing about the period is that in the trials the manufacturers used a much shorter gap - the UK upped it to 12 weeks against advice, but certainly with the AZ jab, it turned out to improve protection.

Anyway - worth ringing your GP up to see if they can assist, but I wouldn't be too concerned if it's "late".

My husband has had the Pfizer vaccine. I have tried to book his second through the nhs booking site, but it says, you’ve already had your first vaccine and will be contacted by your GP or the vaccination centre where you had your first vaccine to book your second.

@BigBamboo phone 119, that's what they are there for
