Definition of underlying health conditions disparities

We are in Wales (not that it should matter). I’m seeing lots of friends in their late 30’s and early 40’s being called for the vaccine by their GP surgery (not the same as our surgery) they all have either raised BP or heart murmur.

DH is 55 and the doctor surgery says that despite him being on meds for high blood pressure he is not eligible to be called any sooner and will have to wait to be called by the vaccination hub.

So, what exactly defines an underlying condition and how can some people’s GPs call them for high BP yet ours say no.

I feel so annoyed by this, most of the people being jabbed are WFH, out of harms way anyway and DH is a factory worker, being exposed to large groups of people every day. It feels so unfair.

Is there a list of underlying conditions anywhere? We feel we should be challenging our surgery as they are all clearly not following the same rules.

High bp isnt listed i think.
Maybe your friends are meeting the 40+ bmi or had gestational diabetes for eg.

Gp are clearly misapplying the asthma group as some are gettibg it and others not.

It seems inconsistent. My DM had hers a month ago. Mid 50s with high BP and heart murmer

I didn't find anything about heart murmur listed at all. Does it only include heart murmurs that are causing heart problems, or does it include people who were born with benign murmurs that so far haven't caused problems (but possibly could if there was some relation to Covid?)

High blood pressure has a list of specific things that have to be the case for it to be counted, including heart or kidney complications, and not just medication.

Nonetheless, I was put in group 6, and I have well controlled high blood pressure ( by medication) with no complications. I do have a heart murmur though, but no problems associated with it. Or it may have been for other reasons.

Well that was a coincidence, DH had a letter to attend for vaccination next Friday.

Now, some people have gone along with their partners in the hope that there’s a spare vaccine available, would it be worth doing this I wonder?

There seems to be a lot of inconsistencies here: I had my vaccination yesterday (South London, aged 46), it was quite regimented, so I can't imagine bringing someone along would work. I would like 44 year old DH to have his, but it didn't seem possible. Colleague in North London went along to his (older) wife's vaccination, and got one too. In short, its worth a try!

If he has a later appointment maybe. Worth it anyway as you can go quicker if not driving(AZ) but all have to stay in the tent if Pfizer. Two different locations.
